Star Wars Rebels Season Two (spoilers)

Now that the TFA has been out a while, I wonder if Rebels will have anything that will tie to the new movie.

Well what could it do? The Fourth Brother was based on a rejected Snoke design; I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see other things based on rejected designs, but I'm not sure what threads from the movie could be followed up in Rebels' timeline.

At a guess: Things they might do could include Maz Kanata and her castle, as they've been around apparently forever in the canon, or possibly Lor San Tekka and/or the 'church of the Force', whatever that means.

Yup. As soon as I saw those characters in the movie, I wondered if they were meant to be folded back into stories set earlier in the timeline. San Tekka seemed to be an old friend of the Organa family, so he could've worked with Bail during the time of Rebels. And Maz is a thousand years old, so she could show up practically anywhere.

I've also heard it rumored that Snoke may have been around even before Palpatine.

I still need to watch this show.

Come on, Netflix! You have all of The Clone Wars. It's time to put Rebels up there, too.

Very likely, but given how much the character's identity has been left ambiguous, I'd be surprised to see him on Rebels - they may want to keep his payoffs in the movies.

Yeah, Snoke is still a mystery. It would be weird at this point for him to show up in something that takes place earlier in the timeline.

To me, the biggest mystery is why anyone thought "Snoke" would be an intimidating name. It's a little too close to "Shnookums" to evoke much fear.

I could see Maz or Lor San Tekka popping up, or they could always make the connections less explicit and give us parents of new characters from TFA. We did get Poe's parents in Shattered Empire, so I doubt we'd see them here, but we could always get a scene at The Imperial Academy where the TFA Visual Dictionary says Hux's father served. If anything, I could definitely see them working in planets like Hosnian Prime, or even Jakku. TVD also says there was a Imperial research facility on Jakku, so maybe we could get a scene there.

I wonder if that was the point - neither Snoke nor Kylo Ren sound like intimidating names, but those sort of names were all over the prequels - General Grevious, Darth Sidious, Darth Maul.

Snoke is just creepy and intimidating in person, which I guess in the end is what matters.

(Of course he could have an alternate, more impressive sounding name, much like a certain WASPish fellow in another franchise called John Harrison.)

Well, it's not like the OT was much different -- villains with ominous names like Darth Vader and Grand Moff Tarkin, heroes with accessible names like Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa. (Although I guess "Jabba the Hutt" and "Obi-Wan Kenobi" could go either way.)

I dunno... I see him projecting himself as this huge hologram and I can't help but think that he's probably a really little guy overcompensating for his size issues, like the Ferengi in TNG: "The Last Outpost."

But hey, I just realized -- Snoke's hologram is the first one I've ever seen in Star Wars that looks solid rather than being translucent, blue, and flickering. So the post-Imperial civilization achieved at least one major thing -- they finally figured out HD video!

I actually wondered if Lor San Tekka might actually be Alderaanian, the way he spoke about how to him Leia will "always be royalty".
I could certainly see a younger version of him showing up. Max Von Sydow is 86 (!) so assuming his character is the same age that means he'd be around 47 at the time of 'Rebels'. Hell, if they can afford him they could even have him do the voice. It's not as if he sounds much different now from how he did in the 70's.

Maz can also certainly show up, not only because she's a millennia old but she operates as a (non-Jedi) force sensitive working with the galaxy's criminal underworld. That's two points of intersection with Rebels. Indeed, now that I think about it, wouldn't it be neat if Maz was the one that took Ahsoka in after she left the Jedi, or at least pointed her in the right direction?

Snoke I feel should be left alone for now. We don't know anything about him and it's unlikely the animated show will be allowed to divulge any secrets prior to episodes VIII & IX.

It's not just characters that might show up either. Word is those troop transports are being re-used for Rogue one which takes place only a few years after 'Rebels', so the Empire is probably using them already.

My hypothesis was that Snoke is about two inches tall.

But that was recently dashed to pieces by a behind-the-scenes article that states that he is approximately seven feet tall.

Bah. They should go opposite of Yoda and make that hologram be his actual size. He should be like fifty feet tall.

His name is probably the biggest problem I have with that whole movie. It just sounds so silly.

Snoke makes me think of Snooki. No. That's not a good thing.

I don't know if it'll be soon or if they hold off 'till next season, but dollars to donuts the Ghost makes a stopover at Takodana at some point.

The Knights of Ren seem to come from a group of Dark Side groupies that came about after the death of Darth Vader.

And.... we have Rebels again!
Um, anyone remember Star Wars Rebels? ;) It's been such a dry holiday season for Star Wars...

January 20th: A Princess on Lothal.
A mere 13 days from now, Loth Cats. Speculation as to the meaning of the title of this episode can surely begin.

The last trailer we got had Mandalorian fighters engaging A-wings. I would guess that would mean more of Sabine's backstory. Also a clip of Kanan in stormtrooper armor using a lightsaber on the legs of an AT-AT on what looks like Lothal. The two groups are separated last we saw. Though Leia is not outside the realm of possibility.

I'd be surprised if they're introducing Leia this early, even in a cameo role and especially so soon after re-introducing Ahsoka, Rex & Vader. Then again, Bail, R2 & Threepio all showed up early on in season one, so it's possible.

Given how hard the Empire came down on Lothal, could this be one of her "mercy missions" that Vader alluded to in ANH?

Jar Jar is almost seven feet tall... :cardie:
