Off topic, while I still wonder what the price scanners are meant to do who says that in 200 years Dyson couldn't be retailing a range of hand sanitisers which happen to use "retro" 21st century design... Makes perfect sense to me.

Although I'm a paralegal, I don't have access to PACER so I can't get up-to-date access to the case documents. Maybe someone else here does. PacerMonitor seems to be the next best thing and at least the freebie version only updates every 24 hours or so.

Mark my words. Axanar Coffee will become a valuable collectible to Trek fans in the years to come. That, above all else, will symbolize the folly of Axanar. It is the Axanar equivalent of "Spaceballs: The Flamethrower".

We're getting into a tricky area. I don't think you can copyright a design (for instance, the designs of the TMP Enterprise and other ships for the '80s were protected by patents for toys for precisely that reason), but I'm not sure exactly how that works and what the line is. Even though the Ares uses detailing and design elements common to Star Trek, I don't know how much it would take for CBS to be able to take a Star Trek styled ship that, nevertheless, is not an established design and call ownership on it. How far would that go? Would any spaceship design that uses a flat horizontal disc with some sort of cylindrical protrusions coming off of it be fair game for CBS to call an infringement? I don't know. I don't think so.

The papers for the lawsuit mention that Captain April and Sarek were in the script. April was to be Garth's mentor, and Sarek was an aide to Soval.

The papers also quote Peters from the Axanar site, saying he concedes on his website that Axanar Works is not licensed by CBS or Paramount.

On the Axanar webstie, under FAQ, there's the question: "Is Axanar licensed by CBS/Paramount?"
The answer is: "No. Axanar is an independent project that uses the intellectual property of CBS under the provision that Axanar is totally non-commercial. That means we can never charge for anything featuring their marks or intellectual property and we will never sell the movie, DVD/Blu-ray copies, T-shirts, or anything which uses CBS owned marks or intellectual property."

How freaking stupid. Utterly and completely stupid. Devoid of intelligence. It defies belief someone can think like that and manage to make it to 55 years old. Someone like this is usually the type of person who needs instructions on how to ride an escalator.

First you need an basic outline what story your going to tell...
How much that will cost... Figuring out how much sound stage space you'll need... who's availble when... hire a writer or writers to flesh out your basic outline... who's gonna build what... what it's going to look like... etc etc etc
