I get it. You can dish it out but....
That's all good, guys. The proof will be in the pudding. Carry on savaging others hard work. I'm sure it boosts your egos.
Karzak, no one is MAKING you watch the thing. Take a chill pill. Stop acting like everyone owes you excellent work right out the gate. Actually, we owe you nothing. We're fledgling and doing our best to learn. It's about FUN, SHARING and FUN. We don't expect a fucking Academy award.
Even if that pudding is the same pudding we've been getting for the past decade-and-then-some, and in some cases prepared by chefs who at least sort of knew what they were doing?
Never in my life have I meant this next sentence than I do now:
Physician, heal thyself!
I certainly will be reserving my final opinion on your film until it's finished and I can evaluate it as whole, but so far there's not been much there that we haven't seen over and over again from other parties, some of whom have done so much better than what you've offered.
It has nothing to do with egos. It has everything to do with, as
Ryan Thomas Riddle mentioned above, offering critique in a constructive manner.
This amateurish behavior from you is entirely disappointing though not surprising, given that you work with people like James Cawley and Alec Peters, faces in the fan film world who are equally unable and unwilling to accept ANY kind of criticism either. It may be about fun for you guys, but you're also certainly doing your part to suck that fun out of it for everyone with this temper tantrum.
Believe me, I'm not watching
Star Trek Anthology for any Academy-award winning material. I never said you owed me anything. Very little I've seen from it has been anything I'd call "good" yet. I'm just a viewer on the internet who was moderately interested in your project who you have now completely alienated. I'm glad to see you are at least self-aware enough to know that you have a lot to learn.
While you're at it, you might consider looking at yourself from that same, self-aware perspective when it comes to how you deal with criticism and how you interact with your audience, because if you're the PR person for Star Trek Anthology, you're absolutely terrible at it.
Also, you may not owe me anything, but you sure as hell owe
Maurice a goddamn apology.
