Shatner "I don't know how they can do (ST 50th) without me"

There seem to be a lot of strawmen cropping up. I don't think anyone said this should be all about Shatner but just that he should be there if he wants to be and it can be arranged. I also dont remember anyone suggesting a film with him playing Kirk. I thought this thread was about the 50th anniversary and his part in it.

I wouldnt mind something in the vein of the Five(ish) doctors though, that could be fun. :rommie:

Let's make a 50th anniversary show of Sherlock Holmes and not invite Basil Rathbone. Or a Lone Ranger one and no Clayton Moore. Some actors are huge to a character, and it just is so.

I'm not as big on working him i to a new movie. Things move on and the second Nimoy one was too much. It would take some great storytelling to pull off an elderly PrimeKirk appearance in the new flick.

Reading thread titles is HARD, man. ;)

While I get & agree with your general point, as a Holmes fan I just have to point out that Sherlock Holmes debuted in 1887's Beeton's Christmas Annual, and Rathbone first played the role in 1939's film adaptation of The Hound of the Baskervilles. So there would've been no reason to invite Rathbone to a 50th anniversary Holmes celebration in 1937, as he had nothing to do with the character yet.

 Yeah, I know. Sorry to be so pedantic. :)
