Power Rangers

well the toy looks awful. maybe the on screen suit will look better. ranger suits look alright.

I'm usually surprised whenever Sentai hops onto a bandwagon: the Matrix (Timeranger), Harry Potter/Lord of the Rings (Magiranger), trading cards (Goseiger), One Piece (Gokaiger). I suppose Minecraft had to come up eventually.

^"Popular" does not equal "good." I'm not required to abandon my dislike of something just because it's popular.
Yeah, but "unpopular" doesn't equal "bad" either. I'm not in love with the zords but I see where they're coming from, Minecraft is super popular with kids, these cube zords could sell like crazy.

But it doesn't really affect me, I usually stop paying attention during zord fights anyway, in most episodes they feel tacked on after the monster has been defeated. As long as the story and ground fights are good I'm in.

Don't forget Go-onger mimicking Pixar's Cars. Oh, and Megaranger copying a lot from Star Trek, complete with a spaceship that looked like the Defiant.

My point is that popular/unpopular doesn't matter when I'm talking about my own personal likes and dislikes, which are strictly my own. I'm not saying other people aren't allowed to be okay with it, I'm just expressing my own personal opinion.

I knew I missed one! (primarily because I never had, and will continue to not have, an interest in Pixar's Cars).

Ah, yes. I don't remember much from Megaranger, but I do remember PRiS using an interface that seemed very much like LCARS, at least in terms of physical props.

"One More Energem" was kind of a cluttered season finale. Kendall finally became the Purple Ranger, but it was pretty incidental in a story that was more about Tyler being heroic out of costume and having a final confrontation with Sledge -- which was resolved way too easily. Still, Brennan Meija did some nice acting here, and I liked the farewell-through-the-closing-doors moment with Shelby.

So I guess Sledge and his minions are out of the picture now? I guess I was right about the Heckyl character becoming the main bad guy next season, although it seems he has a more monstrous form than we saw before.

Better look at everything.

JuouEagle does do a form change to JuouGorilla. His mask flips up

Juoh Changer
Like a Rubik's Cube, the Juoh Changer will have to be rotated to activate its 3 modes.
Henshin Mode : Press the red button, rotate the cube to form the face of the animals and open it to transform. The transformation sound will be some rythmed "Ha ! Ha ! Ha !".
Shokan Mode : To summon the Juoh Cubes, press the yellow button and rotate the Changer to form the cube. The Changer can say the name of all 6 animals.
Gattai Mode : To form JuohKing, press the blue button and rotate the Changer to form the head of the robot. The Changer will shout : San (3), Ni (2), Ichi (1), JuohKing !

Juoh Buster

The red cube will form the sword mode with its Juoh Slash attack, and the blue cube will form the gun mode with its Juoh Shoot attack.

JuohGorilla & Cube Gorilla
JuohEagle's second mecha. To control it, JuohEagle will have to mode change into JuohGorilla by moving up the face of his helmet. His eagle symbol on his torso will also turn into a gorilla.

JuohWild
JuohWild is the robot composed of Cube Elephant, Tiger and Gorilla. His weapon is a small gatling gun but it can also launch its fists to attack its opponents.

Wow, those are ugly Zords. And the cube-based sword-gun seems cumbersome.

Interesting that the giraffe is called Cube Kirin. Kirin is actually the Japanese word for the qilin, a mythical creature from Chinese lore, but it's been the Asian name for giraffes ever since Zheng He's globe-spanning trade voyages during the Ming Dynasty brought giraffes back to China. There was a KirinRanger and his Mythical Chi Beast Star-Kirin in Dairanger, but that was based on the mythical creature (they called it the Griffin Thunderzord in Power Rangers). Odd to have the same name applied to Zords representing two different animals, one mythical and one real.

It's actually a deliberate policy at Toei-Bandai-TVAsahi to try and ape what is popular currently. Ninninger for example was their attempt at cashing in on the domestic popularity of Yokai Watch (which seems to have abated).

Gattai Mode : To form JuohKing, press the blue button and rotate the Changer to form the head of the robot.

If "Oh" means "King" in Japanese, calling it JuOh King would seem rather redundant.

^Okay, now I'm imagining the Megazord fighting a giant Tom Cruise.

Nahh... on second thought, more likely he'd just free-climb it.

If the Mummy movie has Tom Cruise then the Power Ranger movie is sunk

They could always recruit someone like Samuel L. Jackson for a post-credits scene.

Tommy: Who the hell are you?
Jackson: I'm here to talk to you about the Power Ranger Initiative.

FADE OUT

I'm getting a rare urge to have a cube steak...

But king is just meaningless gibberish as far as the target audience is concerned, so it doesn't really matter.

Redundant naming happens, Lake Tahoe for example, tahoe means lake.
