Star Wars: Episode VII: The Nerd Rage Awakens

Really bummed to see that Mark Hamill continues to be left out of the dozens of talk show appearances going on right now. I know there's not much he can actually discuss about the movie, but the same basically goes for all the other actors as well, so I'm not sure why they're making such an exception for him. As if JJ thinks it will spoil the mystery for audiences to even see the actor beforehand?

Even if he only has a small role in the movie, I was still really looking forward to seeing him make the rounds with everyone else. But so far it looks like his only appearance is on Graham Norton at Christmas.

He'll probably be all over television and social media by Christmas and promoting the movie wherever and whenever he can. He's just invisible for now. Once Luke's role in the film is revealed you won't keep him away from the media.

Well, Ford's appearance on the Michael & Kelly show was predictably spoiler-free. I had hoped for a tiny bit of new footage, though.

We did get more detail on the broken-leg incident.

It's great that Harrison seems to be a lot more open and embracing of the role and the franchise. It may mean he finally got his wish, Han dies in the movie and that's why he's being so relaxed after all these years , but it's good to see him fully recovering from both his leg and plane accidents and excited about the film and his role in it.

It's great that Harrison seems to be a lot more open and embracing of the role and the franchise. He does seem very positive and excited about the movie, but I get the sense that's more because it's simply a good movie that gave him some interesting stuff to do, and less because it's Star Wars or his big return to playing an iconic character.

He's made it pretty clear in recent interviews that he's not especially nostalgic about his prior roles and doesn't geek out about the franchise the way other actors in the movie tend to (heck, even with Indy he never seems to geek out that much, and only ever talks about it as a character he really likes playing).

This is the happiest and most excited I've seen him about a film role in years. It's good to see, especially after his recent accidents. The guy deserves to have a blockbuster that he enjoyed being in and likes promoting.

Mark Hamill being on a talk show or interview right now would be a waste of time- the only questions he would be asked would be ones he could not answer.

Cool article... although now I feel kinda stupid. During all this time when Abrams was talking about being intrigued by the question of "Who is Luke Skywalker?", I assumed he meant "Who is Luke really?" or "What kind of person is Luke deep down?"

I didn't realize it was a question from someone in the SW universe who had simply never heard of Luke Skywalker before.

They've released the VR program, Jakku Spy for Google Cardboard, although you can do it without the Cardboard set up. I tried it this morning with just my tablet, but couldn't figure out what I was supposed to do once BB-8 rolled up.
Edit: I tried again, and I think that is just where it ends.

Holy crap, I just read the original Rolling Stone article for ESB for the first time, and Ford, Fisher and Hamill sound more down, depressed, and unenthusiastic about being in the original movies than I think I've ever heard them!

Granted, it sounds like it came after a really long press tour, but it's still pretty surprising to read. And it's definitely very different from the attitude of everyone involved in the new movie.
