Spoilers Supergirl - Season 1

If Lucy was really difficult, and she doesn't want to be cool about her boyfriend dumping her to tap some alien strange, it would be in her best interest to elbow Jim out of the way and take it to the bedroom with Kara first.

Ruin her for all men? But then Live Wire wins.

Probably.

But there's two ways this well poisoning could go.

1. Get in there first and make it memorable, so Jim's eventual arrival is a self-conscious fanfare-less non-event.

2. Get in there first and pitch a tent, so that a gentleman like Jim has to politely wait months or years for Kara to return her facebook status to single.

(I just realized what the metaphorical "well" is that's being poisoned. Sorry.)
 
I liked the episode fairly well. The Danvers family drama was stupid and boring, and the flashbacks were worthless except for the DEO one. But, Livewire was interesting, and it was nice to see Cat Grant suffer a bit for being a irredeemable asshole. Livewire herself was obnoxious, but since that's how the character has always been (atleast in my experience) I was fine with it. It was very hypocritical of Cat Grant to complain about what Livewire was saying when Grant was actually nastier (although barely, Livewire was being a huge ass too), but I guess Grant is the only one allowed to say horrible stuff about Supergirl. I knew Livewire would be defeated before getting her revenge, but it was nice to pretend for a bit that this would be Grant's last episode :evil: I think this episode would have been stronger without the family drama, but besides that it was pretty good.

I agree the family drama was generic but this episode did a great job helping Cat be more likable than she was in the pilot. Loved her scenes with Kara and I'm starting to like Cat as a character a lot better. There's still an edge, but you're starting to understand why she is that way.
 
I really didn't see much character development from Cat. I mean, she kind of cared enough about Livewire (whose civilian name I've forgotten) to visit her in the hospital, but she also demoted Livewire to traffic duty early in the episode for no other reason then she started saying the same things about Supergirl that Cat was saying. I mean, I don't support what Livewire was saying, but Cat didn't punish her for saying messed up stuff, she demoted her for encroaching on Cat's territory. Heck, depending on how long Livewire's contract was, by the time it was up (and Grant could fire her) her radio career would probably have been ruined by spending a few years as nothing but a traffic lady, and as much of an unlikeable jerk as Livewire was even pre-accident, Cat was basically trying to destroy her professionally.

So, this episode still showed Cat as a petty ass. I think Kara just justified Cat visiting the hospital in a way that wasn't really true. Its like the foster mom said, Kara thinks people are as good as her. In reality, Cat was there probably visiting for PR reasons, and didn't particularly cared if Livewire had died, except for how that would have impacted her company's image. This episode really didn't do anything for Cat, except maybe mention her son for the first time, and inform us that her mother won't eat flightless birds :shrug:
 
This was another good one.
I thought Brit Morgan was great as Livewire.
This episode really gave us some nice development for Cat. I'm really starting to like the relationship they are building up between Cat and Kara. I loved her and Supergirl working together.
The drama with her mother really gave Alex a chance to shine, which I liked a lot. The flashbacks also gave us some nice backstory bits. I did not see the big twist with Mr. Dr. Danvers coming. Very curious where all of that is leading. I wonder if that will tie into whatever they've been setting up with Henshaw.
 
I thought it was good and overall I've been enjoying the series. I think the "sibling rivalry over mom's unequal application of affection and rule" thing was an overplayed trope to go with.

Really liked the stuff with Cat seemed to "humanize" her character for me by an iota.

The girl playing Kara/Supergirl really does continue to be a delight.

The "Smallville" viewer in me was expecting, and wasn't surprised when, the lightning bolt caused the shock-jock chick to gain superpowers.

Yeah Cat did have some pretty harsh criticism for Supergirl early on, but it was mostly about how she was always screwing up and not living up to the high standard Cat expected from her. While Leslie's criticism was much more crass and juvenile, and focused more on her body, personality, and sex life.

And I think Cat did say she had warned Leslie she was going too far. And only demoted her after being threatened with a lawsuit over the contract. So while Cat might have played a bit rough, it didn't strike me as being that unjustified.

That's pretty much standard, if you can pick the %51.

I'm remembering a sketch comedy parody on The Patty Duke show from years ago where they explain how identical cousins happen.

What sort of relationship does Astra In-Ze and Zor-El have?

We did see him die in a fire right?
 
The thing that's not working for me is the relationship "drama" between Kara, Jimmy and Winn. It just feels very tired and forced. It's been done to death on other shows.
 
If he still thought she was human, he would have made a second pass at her by now.

Although it's possible he's being coy because her cousin beats up his dad three times a year, more than he's concerned that she might accidentally snap his spine during coitus.

Yeah, but what a way to go. I have a thing for legs and black stockings so, whenever Supergirl is in costume I go wild. :)

That might be a tough one to pull off, even for Hollywood. She and Flockhart are 11 years apart, but Scoggins still looks like she's in her 40s ... Of course, Flockhart looks like she's in her 30s. :shrug:
