Hey, I never noticed that before....

I know it's a Vulcan technique, but i wonder if humans can learn to do the neck pinch. That might have stopped Spock temporallily.:vulcan:

Data picked it up after seeing Spock do it once in "Reunification."

But as for humans learning how to it, I'd vote no, they can't.

Speaking of MM, how long did it take for everyone here to notice Spock's bodyguard was a Vulcan?

I don't remember ever not noticing it.

Spock even says that some of his guards are Vulcans when he's intimidating Sulu.

Then I'm going to start using Kirk's patented drop kick the next time I get in a fight.;)

^Shatner has an anecdote in one of his ST Memory books where he was confronted by some tough guys who wanted to fight 'Captain Kirk'. He first thought of using his Kirk jump-and-kick on those dudes, but IIRC, his daughters talked him out of the idea.

^Indeed. Let us not forget, in the 23rd century, the quartermaster ran the ship's replicator. It was only after they figured out how to use it to make food that it received terminals in all quarters.

In 'Shore Leave', Sulu starts shooting a pistol. Kirk, McCoy and Barrows start running in the direction of the sound of the shots. They stop again, then start to run some more. The next shot shows Sulu firing the pistol. In the background, you can just make out the figures of Kirk and Company standing in the shadows of the trees, waiting until their cue tells them to run into the picture.

^Again from 'Shore Leave', I just noticed something from right after the crew reassembles on the bridge after they leave the pleasure planet : the last flyby of the Enterprise around the planet is from right to left across the screen. That is different than normal but I didn't pay much attention to it until I looked at the 'NCC-1701' markings on the engine nacelle and it is backwards/reverse image.

I don't see Kirk, McCoy, and Barrows waiting in the trees at the top of that shot. They seem to be running from the moment that shot starts; I don't see them standing and waiting for their cue to run.

The Enterprise orbits from right to left at both the top of the episode and at the end. (It's the one time the ship orbits in that direction--other than in "Mirror, Mirror.") The remastered version of the episode changes the orbit to the standard direction. :(

I'm looking at it right now. There are 3 small trees in the center of the picture. Just behind the left side tree you can see McCoy's blue tunic and his face, waiting for his cue. Kirk and Barrows are obscured by the tree. The path they supposedly ran down is visible leading off to the right. No one is running. Only after Sulu aims and fires do Kirk and friends suddenly bolt from behind the tree.:)

That 'skull' always disappointed me in the "Mirror, Mirror" fight scene. It broke apart like cheap plaster and it didn't seem like it would be capable of seriously harming Spock.

The bit that bugs me about it is that Uhura hands the skull over to Kirk to smash over Spock's head instead of just doing it herself. How cool would it have been if Uhura had been the one to take Spock out?

I know it's a Vulcan technique, but i wonder if humans can learn to do the neck pinch. That might have stopped Spock temporallily.:vulcan:

Didn't Picard do it once after his mind meld with Sarek? Or am I imagining things?

At risk of sounding incredibly lazy (guilty!), do you have a screen capture?

It's hard to tell if the small amorphous spot back in the trees is Dr. McCoy, and it's hard to tell if that spot is not moving but is instead lurking, waiting for a cue. If it's not moving, it's only for a handful of frames. After looking at that shot, I'm hard-pressed to assert that the spot is an actor, waiting. But others' eyes might be better than mine.

Memory Alpha says that Picard did do the nerve pinch in an episode (Starship Mine) and also ST:Nemesis.

Jonathan Archer also could do the pinch, when he was carrying Surak's katra.

Seven of Nine did it in at least one VOY episode, I think.

I certainly never noticed it before, but Spock's Barber is right.

Here you can see Kelley's shirt:

His badge shines a little:
