Star Wars: Episode VII: The Nerd Rage Awakens

Yeah, B-wing was a very cool and underutilized ship in RotJ.
At least you got to fly one (I believe) in X-Wing Alliance and perhaps even in X-Wing vs TIE Fighter.

As I recall, the B-wing was the most heavily armed of all Rebel starfighters... and it could even take on a capital ship, especially if in a flight of 3 or 4 B-wings.

X-wing Space Superiority Fighter
Y-wing Attack craft/bomber
A-wing Interceptor
B-wing Heavy Assault Fighter

I'm a Y-Wing guy, myself. I have a soft spot for A-Wings too, but if you see the cockpit design it is just too cramped for my liking. The Y-Wings from CW especially have a very sleek, almost Star Trek, feel to them that I just think is great.

It is pretty neat to see a forerunner type of Y-wing fighter in The Clone Wars. :)

I do like the Y-wing as well. Generally the more modern one, but the Y-wing (of either Clone Wars or the OT) to me is like the F-4 Phantom. :)

X-Wing = F-14 Tomcat or F-15 Strike Eagle
A-wing = F-16 Falcon or F-18 Hornet
Y-Wing = F-4 Phantom
B-Wing = A-10 Warthog

Honest Trailer for TFA trailer. It's really more Prequel hate, than an actual parody.

Also, Disney is phasing out the Slave Leia bikini, merchandise and any sexy poses on the comics over at Marvel.

I've always felt the Honest Trailers were less than honest.

As for Disney phasing out the Slave Leia outfit... hmmm... I'm gonna keep my mouth shut because what I have to say will likely offend more sensitive viewers.

I'm offended!!!!! :techman:

Also, comparing the B-Wing to the A-10? That's just a low blow to make me like the B-wng. Also, it's working ;)

I don't believe the Kenner A-Wing was ever released with RotJ branding - it was always a Droids release until the POTF2 drop in the 90s.

You may be right about that. I never owned a classic Kenner A-Wing Fighter and by the time Droids and Ewoks were on television I'd begun to grow out of playing with and collecting the original Kenner toys.

Yep. You're correct. The A-Wing was released solely in 1985 Droids packaging and the next version wasn't made until twelve years later and the POTF2 chapter of the Modern Era.

I think it was already confirmed by JJ or the production team that the movie will focus mostly on the new characters and that it will be sort of passing the torch between the old guard and the new ones.

It should be like this, we can't hang onto the original trilogy forever and need to move forward. I have my doubts they'll ever be able to create such legendary and impactful characters like Han or Darth Vader again but only time will tell.

If the story is good and engaging and the actors do well i will be very happy to follow Star Wars into a new era.

It seems to be one massive homage to the OT rather than its own story. Look at all the leaked stuff that hasn't been debunked or the trailers. Almost every scene is a nod to something. It just doesn't seem to have an original storyline, but rather is just various homages and nods to the OT glued into one movie. It gets even worse if you extend out the comparisons to the old decanonized EU stuff.

Since the OT (especially Star Wars) is just the Hero's Journey set in a space western, that doesn't surprise me.

The question is what are the characters like and how they react to things. The last teaser gave much more insight to Rey and Finn, and their story sounds much more interesting to me than most of the EU.

Given Abrams' tight fisted nature over spoilers and the story, I think it is safe to say that the story isn't really known beyond broad strokes. Like the Hero's Journey :techman:

Pretty much it.. we just know that there will be an air battle between XWings and Tie Fighters, there will be a snow world where The First Order has a base, a Stormtrooper apparently defects from the Empire and so on.

Just bits and pieces and we have no clue how all this will correlate much less play out in the story itself.

For example the trailers for Captain America 2 fooled me completely. We see a Helicarrier crash down and assume (or at least i did) that the big villain destroyed it, those who saw the movie know it was something completely else so the trailers did a brilliant job misleading the audience to the actual story but at the same time generating huge interest in the movie.

I really hope that the Star Wars trailers are like this, all we know are general locations, that there will be big action (d'uh) and we mostly see the new characters (even if the biggest reactions were to the appearance of Han and Chewie ;)).

A little worry remains if the story is just about the Rebels having to destroy a new superweapon but even if that is the general direction i could live with if the events and characters surrounding this are well done.

Actually, in all seriousness, I am totally fine with Disney forgoing the metal bikini and all the "super sexy" or whatever with comic book covers. The metal bikini was fun for the OT, but it just has been taken too far, in my opinion.

Leaving it behind will hopefully lead to so more interesting designs.

I like the Rey poster. Daisy Ridley certainly seems to be a star in the making.

It looks like Kylo Ren should take his lightsaber back to Wal-mart. Thing looks like it would be a fire hazard!

Fisher is looking pretty darn good there.

And Han is definitely looking a lot scruffier than he ever used to.

I'm liking the continuity in design, just a shame they're not all the same size where they're being hosted.

Based on the poster size, I wonder if Ford and Ridley have the biggest parts in the film?
