Premieres Wednesday, October 7, at 10 p.m. on FX

Featuring: Lady Gaga, Matt Bomer, Sarah Paulson, Wes Bentley, Evan Peters, Kathy Bates, Finn Wittrock, et al

Are you goo-goo for Gaga? This is the first season without the fabulous Ms. Jessica Lange. :( But LG is a welcome new addition to the series as a vampiric character known as the Countess. I'm thrilled!

From Wikipedia:

The plot centers around the enigmatic Hotel Cortez in Los Angeles, California, that catches the eye of an intrepid homicide detective (Bentley). The Cortez is host to the strange and bizarre, spearheaded by its owner, The Countess (Gaga), who is a bloodsucking fashionista. This season will feature two murderous threats in the form of The Ten Commandments Killer, a serial offender that justifies his actions in accordance with biblical teachings; and The Addiction Demon, who roams the hotel, armed with a drill bit dildo.

I have loved all the incarnations of AHS, and am looking forward to the new season.

I have no idea how Lady Gaga will do, but I'm open to it. I hope she's good.

Better than Stevie Nicks, anyway...

;)

AHS is not something I would normally watch, EVER. But I'm going to try my hardest to sit through it. Even if it means taking a gravol to help me sleep that night.

I decided to read up on previous seasons, to see what I am getting myself into. Now I'm not so sure...

I'm looking forward to this. I've only seen about 1/2 of Coven, and only the first episode of Freakshow. I loved what I saw of Coven, but I ended up losing track of it and wasn't able to finish.
I'm especially excited to see Lady Gaga, and as a big White Collar fan I'm also looking forward to Matt Bomer.

I'll admit that Matt Bomer is pretty much the only reason I want to watch. Though I am curious to see how Gaga is as an actress as well.

On a scale of 1 to 10 (1 being Buffy, 10 being The Exorcist) how would you rate the show's scariness?

Well, I can only speak for myself...

I wouldn't say it's "scary" in a traditional horror-movie style. Not a lot of jump-scares, and stuff like that.

It's more a slow, agonizing build-up to some bizarre crescendo. It's creepy and disturbing. It's unsettling. Lots of "WTF?!" moments, squirming in your seat. I often found myself asking what kind of twisted bastard could think this kind of stuff up.

It's awesome, if that's your kind of thing.

Wow, I can't believe they got away with some of this stuff on basic cable.
They almost lost me with the drill scene, that was just nasty.
Other than that I thought it was a pretty intriguing set up.My only real problem is that it was all set up.
It was very well done. I especially loved the way they shot the scene with The Countess and Matt Bomer at the movie.

I'm assuming they're supposed to be vampires and she's the real power in charge of the hotel.

They like drinking blood, they go out in the dark and sleep during the day (and get really grumpy if woken up), and "Nosferatu" was the movie they were watching when they picked that other couple up, providing some additional relational symbolism.

Already love this season more than the last.

Oh, Schmidt, my man! What a way to go!

I did remember one more comment I forgot about in my other post.
Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk are seriously twisted individuals. I'm not necessarily saying it's good or bad, just that it's a fact.

I chickened out after the skin-less man in the mattress. But this morning I read one of the recaps, and as disturbing as it all sounds, I think I want to give it another try. Besides, it's now the afternoon so it might be easier to watch, and I know what to expect.

Should I start booking myself some therapy for the near future?

That was a gory premiere ... I only finished halfway because I was getting ready for bed and didn't want to wake up screaming in the middle of the night from a nightmare. I'll watch the rest on my DVR, possibly after Sleepy Hollow and Heroes Reborn tonight.

The scene with the drill bit dildo was beyond disturbing. Pretty sick stuff. The four way sex scene was especially after they had one on the Supernatural season 11 premiere the same night (they didn't show anything though just the aftermath).

I still can't believe that FX actually let them air the drill dildo scene, that was almost worse then some of the stuff on HBO shows like True Blood and Game of Thrones.

This was great, already better then last season. Loved the 4 way sex scene the song they used through out it. Hotel California by the Eagles played at the end of the episode really seems like the inspiration for this season. Still have yet to see Evan Peters or Angela basset yet. Dennis O'Hare character certainly is different than anything he has done before. Glad Wes Bentley has a much bigger role this season.

BTW, the woman in the for way sex scene was Chasty Ballesteros, who was in Star Trek Renegades also. ;)

I think we'll see Evan Peters and Angela Bassett are going to be introduced in episode 2.

Can anyone recommend a good, free site to watch the first episode? I still want to give it a try. I did manage to get a hold of the sex scene and all of Gaga's scenes but I want to see the whole thing.

After much hunting I was finally able to watch it. I actually really enjoyed it. Which is weird coming from me! Gaga was pretty good and Matt was fantastic! I'm interested to see more of Sally too.

Is she like the Countess and Donovan, and does she control the Addiction Demon?

Sweet Jesus. I get the feeling the showrunners have set the gore factor all the way to maximum this season. This show has more blood than a Red Cross donor truck.

We know a little more about the Countess and how she's not the classic vampire of lore.

* Her kind doesn't have fangs - they don't bite; they cut.
* She was born in 1904, but she's not exactly immortal.
* Sunlight doesn't kill them, but it saps their energy.
* They avoid feeding on the blood of the dead, sick, or polluted.

John March, the founder and original owner of the Cortez, was one twisted psychopath. I liked Evan Peters' portrayal of him, especially with his 1920s accent.

Finn Wittrock looks sexy in any role, no matter how f***ed up his character is. ;)

I'm guessing the Countess was March's wife in the 1920'S they did not show, hence her ownership of the hotel before recently selling it to Drake. I would bet she was turned into a vampire in the hotel since she would have been in her 20's in the 1920's,
