Nasat wrote, "Christopher-I-ignore-people-because-I-can’t-face-that-which-challenges-my-dogma"

And Nasat wrote…

"I would particularly like to thank Christopher, who I have made the mistake of defending and supporting in the past, for his private demonstration of hypocrisy and zealotry, as well as the projection of self-serving motives onto others due to an inability to comprehend a perspective that violates the ideological narrative to which he is emotionally invested. I should have heeded the warnings of those on the BBS who made it clear the kind of person he was, but I naively thought that someone of his intelligence might be misunderstood. If there's a final nail in the coffin of my faith in a better world, it was you Christopher, and I am pleased to finally have the strength to tell you to “get the hell out of my galaxy”.

Hey, Nasat, I agree, Chris Bennett drives me nuts sometimes as I think he is rigid in his views, -- and I know others on this board agree with me. But it is what it is.

You'll always have people in life you don't agree with (and on the internet!). I usually don't agree with Chris Benet much, but I still value his input.
Don't make that a reason to leave the boards. Hopefully you will take a break and be back!

Well, you wrote good meta. I'll miss that. (Or maybe not if Defcon is right.)

Edit: Wait a minute; reading between the lines, are you leaving the board because Christopher put you on ignore or something and you somehow found out? Is that it?

If that's the case, that is hysterical and I agree, he's done this before and he'll do this again. I won't miss him though.

Indeed, although I worry for Nasat, I wish him luck! He has always been an insightful and challenging commentator, and I shall miss him. I hope he does well where ever he goes.

When I ran a 1000-strong Trek club for over a decade, I found there were two main categories of departing members. Those who found other more compelling interests and drifted away quietly, and those who needed to tell others how it was all their fault that Trek was no longer providing their answers/entertainment in the way they desired.

The first was understandable, although incomprehensible to those still in awe with Trek, and the second was always... somehow insulting.

I hope you find some contentment, Nasat.

Totally agree with Therin, 110% I think you can apply that to Trek Lit too. Sometimes, I am totally into Trek Lit (i.e. esp when the Lost Era Books, Vanguard, and both DS9 and Voyager Relaunches were out.) I would love to chit chat about books. Sometimes it seems there can be a couple of months of books that come out and I'm like "who writes this sh*t?!?!?, I've read better Fan Fiction than what is published."

When their is a rash of shitty trek books coming out, no need to blames authors and get all pi$$y about it. Yeah, I have been critical of some authors in the past, but never evolves into it being "all their fault" why I am not happy with a current line of Trek books -- case in point is the Titan line. I was initially psyched having a CPT Riker and I loved Tuvok, but the other supporting characters where just too weird for me (another topic for another time), I thought some of the books sucked , but not blaming authors that they don't provide entertainment for me any more.

When I read about Tyrssa Chen or Water Girl from Titan, I just set my eyeballs for warp speed, speed read thru some sections.

So I'm not the only one who came out of that having no idea what the OP's actual complaint is right? If he had a point to make, that was probably the least successful way to make it.

Nope I read a few paragraphs and then my eyes started glazing over. There was some blame towards Christopher Bennett, some stuff about tribalism but I'm at a loss to explain what the OP's actual issue is. Maybe he's not happy with the current storylines of trek lit? Personal beef with Christopher Bennett? I dunno.

Okay, we've had time to say our goodbyes, I'm closing the thread.

Nasat, if you want the thread re-opening so you can respond, send me a PM and I'll do it.
