I am currently playing Elite: Dangerous. I love the simulated 1:1 recreation of the Milky Way Galaxy. There are 400 Billion Stars and you could, in theory, visit them all. I will probably set Elite aside for a while once the new Fallout game comes out, but I will always come back to Elite. If you like games that don't tell you what to do and don't hold your hand, I recommend it.
I'm playing Arkham Origins for the PC. It's pretty good so far, though I'm only up to the point where I'm on the roof getting my flank kicked by that Croc guy.
I'm playing a cute puzzle platformer on Steam called "Escape Goat". You play as a goat trying to escape a dungeon. The name pretty much completely sold me.
I finally took out Scabrous Scrotus in Mad Max after having clocked in about 65 hours of gameplay. And I'm now bummed. I had such a good time playing that game I didn't want it to end. I'm two trophies away from the platinum, but without respawning enemies I can't complete the challenges to get one of them. Hopefully a patch will give the option to replay convoys or some DLC will be released that counts. So, while waiting for Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection and Fallout 4 I'm back to playing... *SIGH* Assassin's Creed Unity. Goddamn it's an even bigger letdown after playing a game as fun as Mad Max. But, by god, I'm going to slog through it and finish it.
The new one, AC: Syndicate, comes out next month. I think it's going to be the first AC game that I don't bother playing.
I guess the whole "Rise of the Tomb Raider being a timed exclusive on the Xbox" thing worked, at least on me. Besides, I'll still be doing most of my gaming on the PS4.
At the very least I will wait for it to come down in price. They're usually decent distractions, but I just haven't been excited about them in such a long time.
Playing Dying Light and Rogue Legacy. I'm not likely to buy an Xbox any time soon but I'm coming round to the idea.
^ I really want to get into Dying Light if and when I can find the time. (Also, State of Decay.) Playing Tomb Raider DE on XBONE. Reaffirming my love for that game, back on the 360, it was my surprise-GOTY 2013 for a reason
^ Yeah I absolutely loved the 2013 Tomb Raider. Which is why I'm REALLY looking forward to Rise of the TR.
I prefer the old school Lara Croft. Tough, intelligent, and SEXY! I liked the rebooted TR just enough.... but just not enough to warrant getting the second game, even when it does eventually come out on PS4.
The Tomb Raider reboot was a pretty game, and it was technically sound, but it just felt so lifeless and hollow to me. I didn't care about any other characters like they wanted me to. Lara is crying every time someone she cares about dies, but the whole time I'm like, "Who is that?"
Indeed. I mean, yes, I understand that this is supposed to be touted as "how Lara began", but even young Lara from the old school series of games was tougher than this. I liked Lara as she was in the original Tomb Raider (and the Anniversary remake), Tomb Raider Legend and Tomb Raider Underworld.
For some reason the game just worked for me. I got the PS3 version on release day and then I also got the PS4 version on release date. And like I said, it's basically the reason I got an XB1 for. Speaking of XB1, I started playing Halo today. They did a really good job with the remaster.
I enjoyed Tomb Raider. Tried the remaster on PS4 and it just didn't grab me again. I'll no doubt play Rise when it's released on PS4 but I'm not going to rush to buy it or anything.
