Inter-species Sex

hmmm... what else can we think of?

Sex with Horta?
Sex with species 8472?
Sex with Medusans?
Sex with Nanites?
With a sapient species that just happens to look exactly like our dogs?

Somehow, I still wouldn't be comfortable with any of these ...

On the website Epiphany Trek (I think it's gone now) the Human character Tim Kirk is assign to a starship of a species that resembles Earth alpacas, he gradually enters a romantic relationship with one of the officers. There's an interesting chapter where he and she try to figure out if they can even have sex, and how to go about it.

It's very understandable that from a TV show production point of view they chose to limit the suggestion of sex between different species to cases where both partners were humanoids... and, in the rare cases a non-humanoid species was involved, only to offer scenes that couldn't offend anyone (like the Odo-Kira scene).

In-universe, there would be no such limitation, of course .... but perhaps that between two species that are 'too different' for whatever reason, sexual relations simply would only occur very rarely or even never?

You know a thread is gonna be good when it's about humans fucking animals.

The fact that any inter-breeding takes place in Trek isn't very realistic. I suppose you might be able to make a case for the species from "The Chase" but in general it's silly.

The suspension of disbelief contrivance in Trek is essentially that "human looking" bibedal species can breed with humans but weird and wacky looking species cannot.

Meh, fair enough.

I'd like to know how a Kes/Neelix child would have looked like. Despite your dislike of such a notion. ;)

They named the kid "Thylix" because, well, yeah!

Plus, Inter-Species Porn Humor

Neelix...Thylix...

Have you ever seen a video of how octopuses "copulate?" I don't know that anyone would be offended if a Human was sexually involve with a octopus, but their style of lovemaking likely wouldn't be considered engaging.

I've always thought that when a child from two different species comes around, that child has to be artificially inseminated, if two people from two different planets make the nasty, there's no way they could produce offspring.

We humans and animals are from the same planet, different species, but at least from the same planet... and there are those who like get it on with animals, we haven't seen half man half deer creature, at least so far...

Or... maybe those people who get it on with sheep take protection very seriously. :)

This thread had taken a turn for the weird.

I like Tom Paris and all that but I admit when we found out B'elanna was pregnant and it was revealed that the 'odds of human/Klingon conception are so high' I couldn't help but roll my eyes and think of the guy at Sci Fi debris who has a running joke of all the things Tom Paris can 'accomplish/has knowledge of' and wondered if he would add 'can impregnate a Klingon' to his list.

So were people like B'Elanna, Alexander and K'Ehleyr (and Miral) rare in the Star Trek World? They should form their own support group.

And might I add the term 'hybrid' when used in regards to people has always bothered me. I see it a lot on Trek wikis and in reviews and so forth. Maybe its because I'm part Cherokee (the real thing-rez born) and anything close to 'blood quantum' leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

But b'Elanna is already half human, right? So Tom Paris should at least have an easier time of it than the father of b'Elanna had ...

If we can take Enterprise's future tense as any indication, interspecies procreation might become increasingly common between the 24th and the 31st century. That, or that alien Phlox investigates is a rare exception ...

I think the whole idea of the Preservers seeding the galaxy explains why so many aliens are cross fertile. All the major alien races are distant relations to each other.

Okay...so you're saying it's not bestiality, but it is a massive amount of incest?

Not helping.

The Preservers weren't seeders. They basically placed endangered species on game reserves.
