Mawdryn Undead.

The limit of 12 regeneration is a biological imperative forced on the Timelords by the Timelords using probably the same technology that enhanced them in the first place, unless this was always a natural ability of their own that Mawdryn reverse engineered their biology into technology.

Thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands of complete Daleks and millions of tons of goopy partial Daleks (numbering into the trillions of distinct consciousnesses?) were given the capacity to regenerate and that capacity was triggered.

It seems like the Doctor handed more than the 12 lives he had left, if he actually does only have just 12 more left.

Daleks can fly.

Goop can't fly.

There would have been many survivors that can fly higher than goop can leap.

Quarantine the planet, or blow up the planet.

S'all good.

:)

Here's the real problem.

The other trillion, trillion Daleks out there hating nonDalek-kind with ultimate certainty, are not going to think of these "hybrids" as Daleks and might certainly single them out for total extermination first before all other "nonDaleks" because of their intense temerity in calling themselves Daleks when they are clearly not.

Davros would have had to have severely messed with their heads for there not to have been a mas suicide the moment that these fresh new born regenerating Daleks figured out that they were no longer true pure Daleks.

Now that's an interesting thought. Is it possible we might see a Dalek civil war later this season?

Another Dalek Civil War? I'd watch that.

We already had the Imperial Daleks vs the Renegade Daleks during the 6th and 7th era. What would be the factions now?

I'm guessing The Time Lord Daleks that survived Skaro and that are presumably working with Missy and those Daleks who will see The Time Lord Daleks as "impure."

The extended conversation between The Doctor and Davros was pretty griping, and while I had a hard time imagining Davros being portrayed as sympathetic, I did love the twist of Davros using The Doctor's compassion against him. Unfortunately, the second twist that The Doctor knew that he was up to no good comes off flat and takes away from the first one. Another case of Moffat trying to be a bit too clever. It mostly works but not as well as he might think it does.
But did he know? What proof do we actually have that The Doctor had anything planned in advance?

Maybe he genuinely wants to give out tiny part of his energy to Davros, but then he gets caught up in the regeneration-sucking machine. And while captured realizes that all that energy is flowing also into the sewers.

He said so, but Rule Number One (The Doctor lies) still applies.

So...is Clara part Time Lord now? She was in a Dalek casing when the Doctors energy got distributed to all Daleks.

Seems its "sonic glasses" instead of "sonic screwdriver" now. I bet we will see the glasses having a full blown HUD soonish.

That was two really great episodes ! I didn't even hate Michelle Gomez, which is something of a first.

The whole look from the opening credits to the interiors all looked way more closely tied to the original series without sacrificing modern production values.

More please !

We didn't see her regenerate, so she didn't regenerate.

Also, her face is the same (thank goodness.).

Although Davros could have been sucking life energy out of her.

And if the Doctor was a responsible pet owner, after what happened to Donna and River, he would have neutered whatever compatibility Humans and Timelords she had, to make further possible hybridization impossible.

You´re probably right...but it would be a typical "Moffat-Thing" if it turns out similar to this: "Well...she didn´t regenerate...but she gained the potential to regenerate ONCE if given regeneration energy by the doctor"----cue: Clara dieing in Colemans last episode, Doctor gives up one regeneration for her....Clara regenerates into new pet....

Do you think this is step one of The Doctor's Galifrey Restoration Masterplan?

Since "Deep Breath" we've seen him working out some kind of equation on and off. I wonder if that's connected to what he did in this episode and the confession dial.

My thoughts are the same as yours. Ever since Time of The Doctor, we know Daleks, Cybermen and Weeping Angels will do anything to stop the Timelords from returning.

As we just saw in Witch's Familiar, The Doctor basically tricked Davros into killing off all the Daleks on Skaro. Yes there are still Daleks scattered across the universe. However with the Supreme Dalek and most of the Skaro Daleks dead, we can at least assume a significant portion of the Dalek leadership has been decimated in one single stroke.

With the Daleks weakened, that leaves the Cybermen and possibly the Weeping Angels... Are there any cybermen episodes in series 9? They would be the next most logical target for The Doctor.

The other thing that that has me curious is what The Doctor meant by Gallifrey being back and safe in the sky? Was he lying or has it really returned to the universe but hidden away?

Based on rumours I've heard, the Cybermen's season 9 appearance is going to be part of one of those grand alliances Moffat always does which consists of nearly every alien they have costume access to. And indeed, the rumour also suggests Daleks, Weeping Angels, Ice Warriors, Hath...

The other thing that that has me curious is what The Doctor meant by Gallifrey being back and safe in the sky? Was he lying or has it really returned to the universe but hidden away?

There's nothing revealing about this, the Doctor was just telling Davros about Gallifrey being saved in Day of the Doctor. Being in a pocket universe does make it "safe in the sky."
