It's been several years since the last tv series.

Their official Twitter page (https://twitter.com/macrossD) released this teaser an hour ago.

I was a big fan of the Robotech Series. I know a lot of people hate the Americanized version that Macek produced but the story was good and combining 3 separate anime series was genius. I can see by this promotional poster they probably will be following the original Japanese version. It looks interesting. Hopefully the art will be similar to the original Macross saga.

Frontier was amazing. Felt like a better sequel to Macross than Macross 7. And that little surprise in the final episode :) Just a shame that HG has made such a hash of the rights in the US that we can't get a official release for the follow ups to Macross.

Can't wait to hear what Macross: Delta is going to be about.

Everytime a new series comes out i hope it will shed light on what happened to Hikaru, Misa and Minmay and the SDF2.

I thought with Frontier being the 25th anniversary of Macross and travelling to the center of the galaxy it would have happened there.

The year the SDF2 took off and vanished was 2016. Maybe a series being released in our 2016 will reveal something.

Not likely. You are likely going to have to wait for Kawamori to retire and for someone new to come along for that mystery to be resolved.

I spotted Sheryl Nome and Ranka, as well as what looked like variable fighters VF-17 Nightmare and YF-19 Valkerie. So its a combination of Macross Plus and Macross Frontier?

Can you believe I don't like this newly-announced Macross Delta anime series?

No, i can't either. Because I'm lying. This looks GREAT.

Seems like it's a J-pop idol unit versus... Space Sweden? Follow-up info suggests that the Lelouch-knockoff wearing people are the pilots of their Draken III planes, but the idol girls are not for the spiffy VF-31 Siegfried. The Blue-haired Alto successor seems to be the pilot of the blue one, and we see other characters in the trailer who may also be part of this squadron.

It's set only a few years after Frontier, so that could very well be a growed-up Ranka at the very least. But, true to form it's got giant transforming space planes, music used as a sci-fi plot device, and the inevitable love triangle. It's Macross through and through, and it looks like it'll be incredible.

Best of all, it seems like they'll be premiering the first episode over the Christmas holiday, which means that I've a good chance of scoring some advance goods while I'm there in January. Rejoice, one and all! It's Macross time again!

I can't wait to watch this. The Macross/Robotech series was the first ever anime that i watched. It is still the standard by which i judge other sci fi animation shows. I am a massive fan of Macross Zero as well.

Any word on whether CrunchyRoll is getting the series or will it be the 'usual' for us condemned to the Harmony Gold rights hell?

Unfortunately this is Macross, not Robotech. So unless the legal situation has changed, chances are Macross D won't legally reach the US for many years to come.

Hopefully they got Yoko Kano back to do the music again. So far this show is looking amazing.

Doubt it. Strap on your swashbuckling boots, and get ready to hoist the colors for this one.
