Spider-Man: Homecoming' anticipation thread

If you go to TV there are plenty of young actresses on shows on Disney Channel and Nickelodeon, but I don't watch them I don't know if any of them can actually act.

Those crappy kids sitcoms are always on at the laundromat. From what I can see, most of the actors are at least good enough to salvage really obvious laughs from really lame set ups. (But then, as an actor, I've always believed that comedy is easier than drama. Conventional wisdom says otherwise but there's a formula to comedy that's easier to refine because you get instant feedback from the audience.)

I'm sick of all these full sized adults pretending to be children.

I want to see a Peter/Liz/Betty love triangle, with Flash dragging his knuckles around their periphery.

Lets save Mary-Jane and Gwen till movie 4.

I wager SS chances of being made, equal to Fantastic Four 2 being made.

Did you see this report?

http://www.comicbookresources.com/article/spider-man-director-confirms-peter-parkers-age

Marvel's Spidey is 15. They have a 19 year old actor, who will be 21 by the time his movie comes out, playing a 15 year old. UGH

And Feige said they plan to keep their Spider-Man in HS longer. So they can explore Peter's adventures as a teenage hero. Even though Spider-Man 1 and TASM already did that. Idk, it feels like they'll be retreading a lot of the same ground, for the sake of a "Peter Pan" Spider-Man. He can never grow up, he can never become an adult.

To be fair, Holland looks like 12, so that balances out actually. ;)

And as soon as he is part of the Marvel Universe he will have a chance to grow up eventually. They are less likely to reboot or retcon now.
They can recast Peter Parker if they want/have to or bring in another Spider-Man, but the age of Peter will be as established as it can ever be.

(Thank you M.A.C.O..)

They'd still have to shoot the movies simultaneously/back-to-back if they want this Noob to stay looking 15 for an entire trilogy.

Right.

I am enraged by the choice in Aunt May.

Too young and too hot to play an aunt.

(Because it makes me feel old.)

It's better than casting someone who's almost 30 to play a 15 year old.

"Aunt" and "Old Woman" are not synonymous, Guy.

My brother is about to become a father. By the time his child turns 15, I will be 51, hardly old and fragile ( I hope) and my sister will be a 34 (!) year old aunt by then.

Well, just like Peter may have been 20 for about 30 years, Aunt May was like 85 for that whole time, too. So I see Guy's point. Not just any aunt has to me old, but May Parker, yes, old!

Point?

I assure you I was making a joke.

Aunt May gave Doctor Octopus a blow Job (retroactively revealed recently) before their wedding (in the 1970s.).

She's old, not dead.

I always imagined Aunt May as something like Rosemary Harris in the Raimi movies. Even Sally Field seemed younger than how I'd picture her. So for her to be played by the still-foxy Marisa Tomei still takes getting used to.

Ideally, they'd make it a My Cousin Vinnie reunion and have Uncle Ben played by Joe Pesci; I want to hear him call Peter a 'yoot' and tell him that 'everything that guy said is bullshit.'

May Parker has to be a good hearted mature person, always struggling to make ends meet but never without a warm smiler on her face. That's pretty much the whole character. Her age is more or less immaterial and anything over forty can work. It's all dependent on the actress, who in this case is 50, which is plenty old enough to have a teenage nephew.

I'm 15 years her junior and have several teenage nieces and none of my siblings had kids at an especially young age. Depressing thought: by the time I'm 50, I'll probably be a great-uncle. Hell, odds are that'll happen a lot sooner.

TASM yes.

Spider-man 1? They got him out of highschool in the first 30 minutes.

Stan Lee: "With great power there must also come great responsibility!"

Uncle Ben: "Everything that guy said is bullshit."
