Star Trek: Intrepid resumes production

Nicely done, Nick and crew. I think Gordon would have been proud of you all.

And I don't believe I had to go back and see what happened at the end of the credits. Marvel movies in recent times always have me the last out of the cinema to see what happens after their credits roll!

:vulcan: Very good. :techman: I do recommend downloading from Vimeo and watching the download if your ear for the local dialect is as weak as mine. I understood every word when I listened to the downloaded version. :bolian:

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who took the time to watch. I'm both happy and surprised everyone seems to be enjoying it so far. :)

I don't know why that is, but I'm glad the Vimeo download works for you. I think you mean accents rather than dialect though, while there may be people over here who use local dialect, I don't write dialogue in anything but standard English. At least not for Star Trek. :)

Just watched, liked it a lot, made me think
High praise indeed! Thank you so much. :)

I like to think he would. Sorry about the tag! I don't usually bother, but we cut that scene from the main thing and it just seemed to fit there. :)

It was fun to watch. You guys should be proud of the work you accomplished.

Thanks again, Bill. For the record, we are proud of everything we've produced so far, but we're also aware that our work isn't perfect. :)

I really am happy to see people enjoying it, especially a number of people whose opinions I value. DCR's comment that it made him think was particularly nice, and meant a lot to me.

I also wanted to mention how helpful Maurice was during the editing of this piece. While I didn't take on all of his suggestions, there probably isn't a cut in the entire thing that wasn't in some way informed by his feedback.

One cut I didn't make, that Maurice suggested, was the "new underwear" line. While I don't think the tone quite fitted the moment, I just didn't want to take that little piece of business from the actors. :)

I added Facebook video to the streaming options, so if any of you are on Facebook and would like to check it out, you can view it here.

Again, thanks to everyone for watching and for the kind words.

Yes, that was it. Every time I watch Intrepid it reminds me that Doohan was Canadian. Never watch Intrepid without the thought, "Oh yeah, Doohan was Canadian, like Shatner." Apparently Shatner is still Canadian, BTW. He's been talking about it lately.

Talking of accents and dialects, I should probably add, that while I always write in standard English, actors will occasionally get the lines wrong, and it is possible that bits of local dialect might sneak through. :)

The only Star Trek Fan Film featuring MY accent is George Kayaian's. And to be fair, I sometimes have a hard time making out what they are saying, too. Sound quality is really what's key. (So now you know what I sound like.)

I'm used to mainstream US accents, so don't generally have an issue with them. :)

In related news, we've been getting some decent views and generally positive feedback, which is nice. I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop. :)

Concerning Shatner, he was reportedly offered the incredible honor of being named the Governor General of Canada and TURNED IT DOWN. I was left wondering if he had secretly gotten dual citizenship or something. Perhaps the reports were false, but frankly, knowing now that he is still SOLEY Canadian, I found his behavior bizarre. I guess he could be an anti-royalist. (I use that term, and not the term I sometimes see for the anti-royals as 'republicans' because Shatner got so upset when Ted Cruz declared that Captain Kirk was a Republican. (Not the same kind of republican, of course, but still...) Shatner's tweet, that Kirk was in the future and he [Shatner] couldn't even vote in the US, didn't actually make sense to me, although I didn't think of Kirk as a Republican even when I was one.

From what I have seen there was a popular movement to appoint him back in 2010, but nothing official. I don't think he's known for anti-monarchical sentiments, but it could simply be that at 79 (as he was at the time) he didn't want to take on the workload. The current Governor General is 10 years younger than Shatner, and his predecessor is more than 25 years Shatner's junior.

Again, our thanks to everyone who has been kind enough to watch or post their thoughts on our latest short film, Transposition.

When we first started making Star Trek fanfilms over a decade ago, there really wasn't that much to choose from, and the technology available to us was pretty limited. As were our abilities. As the years have gone by, we've continued to grow, as has the technology available to us. Much of what we do is enabled by our access to the internet, and the influence of social media cannot be ignored.

With the fiftieth anniversary of Star Trek coming up next year, it would be silly of us to pass up the opportunity to make a new full length episode, and plans are underway for that now. Indeed, I what I believe to be solid story and one that does justice to Star Trek and its legacy. And it's one I am anxious to bring to reality.
Which brings me to my point. Fanfilms in recent years have continued to grow and reach wider audiences, largely due to the power of crowdfunding. The story I plan to bring to life is not one of huge scale, nor one that requires explosive special effects. It is a smaller, more personal story, and one that can be done with our existing resources. But I would like to bring much more to the table, which is why I am considering crowdfunding in the hopes we can bring you something truer to a professionally produced production.

It is still early days though, and any crowdfunding campaign will require a lot of work and planning. But one of the most important things for any campaign is a strong social media presence. Which is why I am asking people to please share Transposition and our page. Please, if you like what we're doing and want us to continue to improve, please like our Facebook page and share as much and as widely as you can. Because when the time comes, that social media presence will be invaluable to us, and we will need every little bit of help we can muster.

At this point I should add that there is no firm plan to crowdfund Intrepid, and even if we did decide to do so, it would be for a fairly modest sum. At the moment, it's merely under consideration, but I don't suppose it helps to start thinking ahead. :)

My continued thanks to you all. And for anyone who may have missed it in the earlier post, here's our latest short. :)
