Did anyone get a Windows 10 invite?

I am just in the proccess of going back to W8.1 on my main pc and W7 on my steam box, i can't really see a reason to be on W10 apart from DX12, my systems were running just fine on W7/8, and MS could not see me sitting in my pants while replying to forums. lol

Found the following list of the sites to block to thwart Microsoft attempts to get extra nosey with Windows 10.

Simply add them to the blocklist in router and it will hopefully go some way towards aleviating some of people's concerns or use your hosts file and define each with an IP address of 0.0.0.0.

Found the list on astaro.org which the community site for Sophos products such as there UTM software and hardware.

Interesting to see that on W8.1 pro, i am showing two of the telemtary updates, (KB3035583) (KB3068708), as important, rather than optional updates, which means you will have these updates installed on your system if you have updates set to auto.

Talk about a new business model for windows, i would love to see the difference in what they made profit wise from the old way of selling windows, to this new way of selling all that info they are hoovering up on those millions every day, i bet it would blow our minds.

MS wanted the xbox one to be totally online 24/7, if you wanted to play any game, even a completely single player game, you had to be online to allow the console to give you permission to play that $60 game you bought, but no online connection for whatever reason, and that $60 game became a $60 teacoaster.

But if that were not bad enough, being online 24/7 mean't MS could hoover up everything you did on the console, what you watched, played and listen to, plus when you connect the xbox one to your TV cable box via the pass through, the console would also take note of everything you watched on regular tv, then there was even talk of kinect being on 24/7, even when the console was on stand by, as it was listening for commands, and there was even more talk of it scanning products bar codes in it's area of view( snacks, drinks and what not), although this was only rumored.

Of course it brought up privacy issues as to just what the xbox one was sending back, similar to the what has happened here with W10, plus another interesting point of contention over the xbox one was, what gives MS the right to upload all this info to themselves, you paid for the console, you paid for the games, you paid to access the service via a gold sub, and you paid for the internet connection, then MS sit and use all those things for themselves.

Of course gamers balked at the always online, and despite MS making it quite clear they could not simply flick a switcch and turn all this always online drm off, because the console itself was built up around it, they eventually flicked a switch and turned it all off.

Anyway, that is the story right up to were we are today with W10, were it seems from what's been found, that MS are now trying the same things with PC users, it will be interesting to see if the same thing happens.

I hope there is some kind of backlash but I suspect people just are not that techy to look into what their windows is doing so won't complain...

BTW there was a whole bunch of stuff you can turn off during installation. You guys do know that don't you?

^^^ There was a backlash to all this - despite numerous denials from MS over much of these issues, as well as vehement insistence that the Kinnect could not be removed from the system, they eventually came out with a Kinnect-less version of the console (which I now have), without cameras and microphones, effectively nullifying most privacy concerns. Makes one wonder how many of the rumors were really true to warrant re-packaging the X1 in that way.

You can disable that. Just go to Start and open "Settings."

On the settings page, click on "System," and then click on "Notifications and Actions."

Disable as many of those application notifications as you like.
