There are bits of the new uniform I like, but not quite sure I completely like it yet. I dug how the previous movie uniforms felt like the original Theiss designs.
Who is the actress that plays that alien?
Yeah it's the squared shoulders and cut along with the darker-colored panel on the sides with that raised collar. Seems a bit too stiff, which is what I thought about the later season TNG uniforms.

I like these a lot, they actually seem like real uniforms. I always felt the ST09/STID uniforms looked like soccer jerseys.
I prefer the previous ones, mostly because they were closer to TOS. I don't like the squared shoulder look on the new ones (or on any other article of clothing, really). Ah well, different strokes and all that.
I'm glad the tiny insignias are gone. I never liked that trend, as I think that was also done for Brandon Routh's Superman and Christian Bale's Batman having their symbols/insignias all over their costumes.
