Assuming this statement is true (which I do not), it is possible CBS has a non-competition agreement on the table with Paramount, and simply wont produce a show that is perceived to be "competing" with the films.
I doubt there is any such agreement out there, but it is possible in all the negotiations with Bad Robot, Paramount, and CBS required such an arrangement.
...and when would the last film on the 3 film Bad Robot/Paramount/CBS contract come out? hmm...
Oh. God.
Please don't tell me Para Mobius was right about something. I don't believe it. I can't believe it.
Regardless, if such a thing existed (which I'm still not convinced it does), wouldn't Bad Robot wish to extend such a contract for a potential fourth film and beyond?
Of course, but it would require re-negations of all 3 companies (or maybe 2 if Paramount wants to do the film with out BR's involvement, who knows) at that point, and when that happens who knows what else may come of it. There are always possibilities.

@Bill you mean this, which also tells of the CBS/Paramount complications. Although it did not say if Abrams wanted to do show in 2013 or wait until after the 3rd contracted movie came out. Either way it would have meant going back to the negotiation table.
