CBS says it CANNOT go forward with ANY new Trek series?

Assuming this statement is true (which I do not), it is possible CBS has a non-competition agreement on the table with Paramount, and simply wont produce a show that is perceived to be "competing" with the films.

I doubt there is any such agreement out there, but it is possible in all the negotiations with Bad Robot, Paramount, and CBS required such an arrangement.

...and when would the last film on the 3 film Bad Robot/Paramount/CBS contract come out? hmm...

Of course, but it would require re-negations of all 3 companies (or maybe 2 if Paramount wants to do the film with out BR's involvement, who knows) at that point, and when that happens who knows what else may come of it. There are always possibilities.

@Bill you mean this, which also tells of the CBS/Paramount complications. Although it did not say if Abrams wanted to do show in 2013 or wait until after the 3rd contracted movie came out. Either way it would have meant going back to the negotiation table.

As would Paramount and CBS, as both get pieces of the pie. Though I don't think it would make much sense for CBS to agree to a non-compete clause on their own property. Then there was the story about Abrams wanting to make a TV series as well...

That story never passed the sniff test in my opinion. It was a lot of hearsay and innuendo. Some anonymous source who happened to be in on this big meeting where a Hollywood mogul threw a temper tantrum. Not unheard of, sure. Just doesn't seem likely with JJ's relatively cool demeanor.

Also remember, CBS doesn't have to do a thing and they get money off of the reboot films.

As promised to our backers, we engaged the top entertainment attorney in LA who has exceptional connections to CBS and Paramount. For reasons we are not able to disclose, CBS cannot move forward with Star Trek Renegades at this time - or any Star Trek series for that matter.

Seems to me that you guys should've engaged this "top entertainment attorney" back in 2012, before taking everyone's money.

As they've already signed Pine and Quinto for #4, I would think, again, IF (still, a very big if) something was in place, they would be working through those negotiations now, if they weren't in place prior to those contracts being completed.

Not to forget, Paramount and Bad Robot extended their contract through July 2018. Bad Robot will likely be involved in any sequel. Despite what some fans claim, they seem to have a very good relationship.

They may be starting to work on them know instead of waiting until after the next film. They needed to option Pine and Quinto now so their not stuck paying ridiculous money to them later. Obviously, they will see how STB does before announcing the 4th film.

No offense, man, but I've seen so many people with "inside information" in the past year that have amounted to nothing, its hard for me to believe you. I'm not saying anything you say isn't possible and I respect the fact that if what you say is true, you have sources you can't reveal. I get it. I think the poster is confusing other fan films who claim to have pitched. Never heard that of STC.
