Series 9 - Coming September 19! (And a trailer!)

Looks good to me. I'm really enjoying the increased quality of their alien creatures. I loved the look of the Teller in last season's "Time Heist," and this season looks like it's got quite a few new creatures, too.

Oh, joy... Daleks.

It's a shame they can't do a series without the pepperpot bastards popping up somewhere.

Judging from the snippet with them their episode might be one of Moffat's standard time travel shenanigans type stories. There are NuWho "Time War" Daleks on a 1960's era style OldWho Dalek interior set with 1960's style Daleks.

"Born to save the Universe" - intriguing. I wonder if that'll actually be the case, and if it means the Doctor or specifically Twelve.

Ooh, I see they've brought back the Supreme Dalek from Stolen Earth/Journey's End. I guess we really are through with the New Paradigm?

Also, I noticed in the 42 second mark we see Missy with a Dalek. Is this the first time since Frontier in Space we've seen the Master on screen with a Dalek?

And no, I'm not counting the 96 TB movie since

A) We don't actually see any Daleks on screen there.

and

B) I try to pretend those were just castrated chipmunks screaming "Exterminate!"

First impressions....yeah, back to Doctor Who TV. The Comic Con trailer looked cinematic as hell; this reminds us it's a TV show.

- Those hands with eyes things remind me of Pan's Labyrinth.

- Daleks...yay. Sigh.

- Missy...yay! (not sarcastic like above) Only if she's not a fill-in companion. If she is, then, not sure how I feel about that. But my first reaction is that they risk overkill. I think she's best in small, crazy doses.

- I hope Clara with the UNIT bazooka doesn't mean they're gonna re-do Martha's UNIT stint with Clara.

- At 20 seconds in, it's the Cowardly Lion from Wizard of Oz!

- Having recently re-watched series 8 on Netflix, and still having the same feeling of it the first time around that there was too much Doctor/Companion angst, I am looking forward to a (hopefully) smoother ride for Series 9. And I'm looking forward to seeing how Capaldi grows into the Doctor more.

The Twelve/Clara videos on Youtube do a great job of emphasizing the comedic interplay between them, by picking out the best bits and pieces and making Twelve really funny. Viewing series 8 as a whole makes you realize how they really had to pick out those bits and pieces.

While I appreciated it more the second time around and I like his "emotionally misunderstanding idiot with a box" characterization, he was a bit too arrogant and abrasive at times for my taste. Hopefully they dial that down a bit this year.

As the series went on, they showed a character progression for him. So I hope they continue that for his second series.

I thought it looked cool. All of the aliens looked nice, and I still like The Daleks, so that part looked interesting to me. If Clara can go without a mediocre love interest this season, and drop a lot of the selfishness, this could be great. regardless, I think this will end up being better than Series 8.

Yeah...they're not just popping by for a visit, and that "beard" can be taken care of in 5 minutes. Seems like they both have a reason to be there.

But on the other hand, wouldn't they keep something as big as a Tennant cameo under-wraps? Sure it may just be a short sequence, but any time Tennant returns is guaranteed to cause geekgasms for the fandom. If I was Moffat, I'd say "No random selfies to prove that you dropped by."
I figure they were looping new dialog over some unused footage from the Pompeii episode, to extend a conversation we only saw part of the first time round.

That's completely my take on it as well. Looking forward to the new series! :)

"Same old, same old. The Doctor and Clara in the TARDIS."

It's funny. I thought I didn't like Capaldi's Doctor but damn if I'm not looking forward to seeing him again.

I don't suppose they need to explain why Amy looked like the soothsayer or whatever she was in Fires of Pompeii like they are making something of the Doctor looking like Caecilius.

Given that she lives in New York probably not but she's clearly going to be as major a part of Capaldi's run as Kingston was for Smith.

I'm thinking the kiss the master placed on Twelve will have repercussions

Something to do with DNA transfer perhaps and the part of the Master recedes in the doctor

I just hope Moffat stops with this "One major and mysterious woman" for each of his doctors

River for 11
Missy for 12
and the 'Impossible Girl' who shared both in a fashion
