New to Who

Make up shows to talk to people about. Be emphatic. It will be like the reverse of that ad campaign from a year ago, where the guy doesn't know what everyone is talking about because he isn't up to date on his television viewing.

...

It make my skin crawl just a little, to realize that, a year ago or so, someone ran an ad campaign pointing out that it was important to be up to date on your television viewing.

Oh I have plenty of other shows to talk about with the people in my life. It just kind of irritates me that whenever I mention these shows they are dismissive about it due to their content. Even my mom has said that the only people who watch Star Trek are retards and that no one watches Doctor Who.

Meanwhile I have to listen to them go on and on about Big Brother and The Bachelorette. And do I say anything negative regarding said shows? No. That would be rude and mean.

Doctor Who is one of the few sci-fi to use "humanoid" correctly. The original definition was something that looked human, but wasn't. (the word was created at a time when European people believed that all the differently colored humans on the planet were not all human. "mongoloid" was created by Europeans in the same time period - looked like Mongolians but were not)

There were definitely a few episodes that I enjoyed, the 3 part finale wasn't one of them. It felt like it was all over the place. But now I know more about The Master and I've met Captain Jack, who seems like a pretty cool guy.

Martha. I liked her overall but hated that the writers made her in love with the Doctor. Didn't that already happen the previous season? Yes, yes it did. Her first exit was good, wanting to start her career as a doctor and help people. A noble reason to stop travelling. But then she had to go back and further explain her true reason for leaving: the Doctor won't ever love her.

Really? Really? You're giving up all of time and space because the guy you have a crush on doesn't reciprocate your feelings? How very high school.

Now that you are at the end of series 3, you can have this piece of bridging material.

Ha! I love it when he meets himself. Which one is celery guy? I only know 1-4 and 9-12, sorry.

Even though I don't want to, after I watch series 4 I'll try 1, again. Then I'll be all caught up on the new stuff. And yes, I know I've had probably one of the most unorthodox viewings of Doctor Who ever.

Peter Davidson was Doctor number five.
Peter Davison also is Georgia Moffet's father (10's real life Wife and played 10's Clone of a Daughter) So, Doctor 10 in real life married and had children with Doctor 5's real life (and 10's in show) daughter.

"Time Crash"
would be a bit of a fan boy experiance for DT given that he got into acting to potray the Doctor, and given his age Davison would likely be one of the first actors to play the Doctor he would remember. And of course Davison is DT's father-in-law.

Martha though left on her own terms and that's pretty respectable IMO. And her life of adventrue isn't over yet and I think in the end she would being pretty happy in life.

That's pretty neat and a happy coincidence.

Voyage Of The Damned was really good. Poor Astrid and all the others:( Though as soon as she and the Doctor laid eyes on each other I knew she was a goner. I mean they were on the Titanic. One of them had to die.

Martha's story's not done. For those of us who are fans of that particular companion, her later appearances are much better than her departure.

I have to agree with DWF here. Of all the modern companions, Martha is the only one who ever left the Doctor of her own volition.* It was her choice. She enjoyed her time with him, and she liked him, but she didn't need him. She realized she could enjoy her life just as well without him, and it wasn't the end of her world when they separated. I find that a very respectable thing.

* Amy and Clara both tried but kept getting dragged back in.

.

Wasn't the end of the world?

Martha got over the end of the world as something that had once happened to her.

Fresh fields and tin dogs ahead.
