I am looking forward to seeing this film when it does get released to the general public- Star Trek has a big universe and I like seeing more of it which is outside the traditional...

This is absolutely true and the praise is well-earned. With today's technology and some know-how, it's quite possible for just about any group to create great looking sets and visual effects, however a good script is the sine que non when it comes to producing an entertaining product.
And just to add, it's been good to see Maurice's primers encourage effective use of sound editing and recording techniques. Nothing worse than coming up with a halfway decent script/dialogue, then the audience not being able to hear it!
So, trying to put this topic back on the rails, in general the production values of Renegades are good. The sound is well done and I never had to strain to make out what anyone was saying, which is always appreciated. Cinematography wise I thought it was generally fine, though it felt kind of small, and I'm not talking set size, but more the way things were covered and the lens choices. If there's a follow-up I'd like to see them open it up more.
The sound is actually going to get much better in the final version. We did a lot of ADR, you can notice this when you look at our first 2 teaser trailers compared the version you saw, the dialogue is much better. ADR was also used to fix some continuity issues as well.
Cinematography decisions we based on where we were shooting on the set, if we did wider frames we would have had to spend more time fixing set issues (seeing the ceiling etc..) in post. If we had more time and more money we could made the sets a bit more expansive. Since we rented the stages, we only had a certain amount of time to build the sets. Tristan did a great job at filming based on what we had. We actually only have a few shots using green screen, about 95% of the film is practical sets.

What the heck was that LOL. Looks like some one took our first teaser and edited with there own idea of what they thought STR was. Maybe he can edit the new Equinox teaser also
Renegades are teasing a "HUGE announcement" about the future of the production. Digital downloads will also apparently be available to donors in just over a week.
Having seen the rough preview back in June, I'll be curious to see what changes have been made to the final film.

Based on the unfinished preview I saw in June, I'd say that's a pretty fair review. Though I may have been more impressed with the visual effects work than the reviewer was.

I'd argue that review (2) is kinda favorably biased to it. I think the scifi4me review is pretty spot on, however.
A date for digital downloads was announced to backers in an email. I'm not sure it's my place to make that public, but it's not far off.
