I am looking forward to seeing this film when it does get released to the general public- Star Trek has a big universe and I like seeing more of it which is outside the traditional...
I have said in the past that if you have a good script that any halfway competent troupe of actors can pull it off but it the writing isn't good all even the best actors will do is reveal the precise degree of its crapitude.
(There are occasions where great actors can transcend the material and make you enjoy the performances so much you lose track of how bad the writing is. But that's really uncommon.)
...Maurice especially has taken great care to explain the technical side of production and post-production in his Fan Filmmaker Primer thread (which honestly seems to get little love around here, and that's a goddamn shame)...
Thanks very much. That's nice of you to say.![]()
This is absolutely true and the praise is well-earned. With today's technology and some know-how, it's quite possible for just about any group to create great looking sets and visual effects, however a good script is the sine que non when it comes to producing an entertaining product.
Based on the unfinished preview I saw in June, I'd say that's a pretty fair review. Though I may have been more impressed with the visual effects work than the reviewer was.Someone has already posted a review. I don't know if it's any good, or if any element of it is true, but it's out there now. BE WARNED OF POTENTIAL SPOILERS:

That is a significant improvement upon the previous site design!
Thanks for the 3rd review of this I've linked to. Here are the other two, if anyone wants them:

A date for digital downloads was announced to backers in an email. I'm not sure it's my place to make that public, but it's not far off.Has a decision been made on an uploading date?

Thanks! Our multi talented composer and artist Justin Durban did the design, I did the implementation and coding.
I notice on the website you can still 'back' the project to get a copy of the DVD/Bluray and the download, but not just the download?
I'd consider backing for the latter - but not paying shipping and postage for the former, so slightly frustrated.
