Big Brother 17

Vanessa makes some smart game moves, but I have really started to dislike her. She talked about Clay and Shelly throwing her under the bus, but she threw them under the bus first by leading the house to believe they made the decision to put up Jason for her. She denied any responsibility, which was B.S. Clay and Shelly have made some poor game moves, but they are more likeable to me than Vanessa.

All three of them were in on the decision and they are all back-pedalling as quickly as they can.

What did they really get by keeping Austin? The whole Dark Moon would've kept people in the dark for a couple more weeks, in which they could relaxed and slowly whittled down the opposing numbers, getting rid of the alliance-less (Becky, John, Steve) or setting those three up to take out James, Meg, Jackie or Jason.

Austin is a vote for the twins. He barely cares about Vanessa's game, as he has fucked it up repeatedly, and he cares even less about Clay and Shelli. It was a stupid move on their part.

I don't think this will come back to bite James. He seems to be well-liked and who wouldn't go after a couple?

^The Austin thing is baffling, for all of the reasons you brought up. Vanessa -- for ALL of her talk about blood on her hands, blood baths, swan dives into pools of blood, etc. -- would have walked out of last week relatively un-bloody had she stayed the course. With the exception of Liz*, the house was completely behind her back-door plan.

Instead, she kicks over the hornet's nest by nominating Jason and then pleads innocent (with the implication being that Clelli was the power behind the HoH), leaving her in the worst position she's been in all season. Complete Bonehead move.

*Liz's instability as an alliance member should be obvious to anyone in the house paying attention.

I'm starting to like Jackie.

I wonder what happened in between cutting the taped parts of the episode and the vote that made everybody vote for Clay. Did Clay just straight up fall on his sword and convince James to vote him out?

Becky might as well be invisible. I'd forgotten she was even there.

I missed Wednesday night's episode, and since I want to see what those costumes were about, this prompted me to figure out how to set up my on demand account (convoluted rigamarole involving setting up half the account on the TV and the other half online). At least I don't have to pay to see this, as they're offering Big Brother for free (not the 24-hour feeds, though).

I'm not sorry to see Clay go. He was basically an ambulatory Ken doll, with about as much personality. As for Shelly... she can go, too. Preferably next week.

I knew Vanessa's day would come. She really has no loyalties in the game, and it shows to the other house guests.

Her back-dooring of Jason instead of Austin ignited all of this. Jason's eviction cemented the other side of the house into an efficient alliance that is pretty ruthless in their targets and objectives.

Really, the entire Sixth Sense alliance has never been that loyal to one another. Vanessa and Shelli's default move is to throw other alliance members under the bus whenever they get the least bit threatened. Austin is loyal to Liz but not to her twin. Also: the whole "Judas" thing. Liz went against her alliance (that was formed with the sole purpose of protecting she and her sister!) and voted for Jeff to stay.

I don't know what to think about Becky. She's making bold moves and her scheme of back-dooring "She Who Must Not Be Named" is solid, but her vow of silence on the matter lasted microseconds. I hope she keeps toying with Vanessa. "I'm not making alliances or promises anymore.":)

I'm rooting for Jackie, Johnny Mac, and James at this point. If she sticks to her guns, Becky will join them in my final four bracket.

I think I underestimated Becky because she's been laying low. The moment she has power, she solidifies her spot in an alliance, pulls her closest ally into the same alliance and builds a relationship with Shelli. She is a quiet, observant type.

I think Vanessa lost me this episode. Emotionally confronting people at the slightest hint of things going wrong is just dumb. I thought poker players were supposed to keep their emotions in check. And how has she not picked up on the fact that Becky stares off into space whenever she's lying? Again, POKER PLAYER.

The Sixth Sense alliance's downfall isn't their lack of loyalty to each other so much as their lack of connections with anyone else in the house. All the successful alliances: The Brigade, the Hitmen, Cooltown, etc. They had relationships outside their alliance so they had influence no matter who won HoH.

I think Jackie is the current frontrunner though.

I wonder if Vanessa's poker skills are more mathematical and in the context of that game, instead of a shifting, dynamic situation like a reality game. A poker game doesn't work on alliances and promises; it's every player for him/herself. So Vanessa may very well have the ability to read an opponent who is at the poker game with her, but be less adept when the rules are much looser and can change at any moment.

At this point, I'm hoping that John will win - I didn't like him at first, but he's grown on me.

I like John, but for me to root for John he has to do something strategic in the game that is successful. The one time he did try to try his hand at the social game so far it blew up in his face and could have made him a target if the wrong person won HoH.

I have to admit. This has been an interesting season of people shocking the hell out of each other with choices for the block. Lots of bad blood this season.

I predict Vanessa is toast. And I can't stand Becky's maniacal grinning.

I don't know if I'd use the word "maniacal" to describe her smile -- more like "vacant."

Vanessa is the most likely evictee tonight. Shelli is just playing it low-key and incognito in bed until this all blows over.

She had moments of both vacancy and grinning like a maniac. The only thing missing was her shrieking "MUHAHAHAHA! You think I'm on your side but I'm NOT!" :D :rommie: :D :rommie: :D

I would use 'Vindictive'. She seemed vacant in the first couple weeks but as HoH she's been very deliberate.

I think Vanessa's gone. Austin, Liz and Julia may prefer her over Shelli, but they will vote with the majority if there's no chance.

I wonder who the second evictee will be. Becky and Austin seem most likely targets. Maybe James or the twins. Only ones I'd be surprised to see go tonight are Jackie, Meg, John, Steve.

That'd be kind of an awesome end to the night. Vanessa and Becky consigned alone to the jury house.
