Did anyone get a Windows 10 invite?

Kaspersky Internet Security is working but not totally, apparently 2016 works but it's giving me a BSOD when I try to update it. But Defender is working, Kaspersky is working to a certain extent but appears to believe I'm in safe mode.

With regards the AV programs, I'm using Avira.

I can scan individual files as needed, update it and it will do the scheduled scan, but doesn't show up in the task bar.
(Picking it from the start menu doesn't seem to make it entirely happy either).

The windows security tab shows it as working though, so your mileage may vary. - For other people, it might work better.

I finally got the Windows 10 App to show up. It turns out you have to have IE 11 installed for it to pop up, for some reason (I never upgraded from IE 10, which I never use).

Overall I like this - went into Powershell and uninstalled a lot of the junk like xbox and installed Start10 and I'm all set.

I don't know how to do powershell

I want to remove the photos app it's a waste for me.. And OneNote won't match up with the OneNotes on my phone...

Calendar isn't syncing up as fast as I thought it should...

I thought boot up was supposed to be faster it is actually taking longer then Windows 7 to boot up and my start sounds are gone too..

And it keeps changing me from a local account to a microsoft account WTF?

But yeah the boot up is not faster ....

Make sure you've done this.

I imagine it's going to vary based on your hardware and also how much free disk space you had when you started your installation. If you didn't have much space available, it's very possible your OS is fragmented and that's going to slow down boots (among other things.)

And it keeps changing me from a local account to a microsoft account WTF?

Do this. If you always login with a local account, you don't have to deal with the MS account stuff.

OK now that I have synced my calendar and OneNote properly I'm not fussed with the whole login thing any more as both items are updating instantly across devices..

I set up the login so I don't have to type it... I am hoping that the bootup gets faster the more I use this ....

Will do a defrag later too.

Those tips are very handy though I might use those on the laptop if and when I get around to fixing that up.

Just got an email. "It looks like you've reached your device limit for installing apps and games from the Store on your Windows 10 device. If you want to install apps and games from the Store on another Windows 10 device, remove a device from the device list."

Unfortunately, I only have the one so that may be a teeny bit of an issue if I do remove it:lol:

Gee, that's a little requirement MS could have bothered to mention.

For what it's worth, it's mentioned in the official support page for the app not showing up. But yeah, it would have been nice for them to actually mention all of the prerequisites to be able to get the app.

I never purposely install IE.

Well, IE is integrated into Windows, so anyone running Windows should already have it unless they deactivated it. The only reason I didn't have v11 is because I ignored the update, which to me was pointless since I never use IE.

The last IE was pretty decent. I always updated to keep security holes out of everything. That said, the new Edge browser is much better, though I still plan on sticking with Firefox/Chrome/whatever.

That is completely frelled up... MS putting a limit on app purchases..... What the hell?

Still getting slow boot times. This is messed up and I have a 3.9 ghz quad core cpu over 16 gig of ram and tons of hard drive space..

It's not the amount of apps (well other than the bug of only 512 showing on the apps list) is the amount of devices you can attach to your account, which appears to be 10, previously it was 81.

I now have 2 options. Stick with Windows 10 or use my backup to go back to windows 7. I can't decide as I think I'm liking this apart from the slower then expected boot time.

I did a backup of both operating systems so that should give me the choice.

Is it possible to have Windows 7 on a blank hard drive and just swap drives when you wish to?

Sure, though that sounds a bit cumbersome. You could always just dual boot them.

Anyway, I found out how to make Cortana activate by voice command, and now I have become death, destroyer of worlds.

(Go to Cortana's settings, click on Notebook, then Settings, and choose "Hey Cortana" voice option)

I've been having fun with Cortana for ages on my phone, and played with her a lot today on the PC..
