Big Brother 17

I think Liz was under the impression that she could use flirting to manipulate him.

I don't think it's fair to compare lying in a game like BB to lying in real life. There are plenty of people who would lie their butts off on a game show but wouldn't lie in real life. But yeah, Audrey is one of those players who will shake things up for the sake of shaking things up because "This is Big Brother, not coombayah love circle!" not understanding that people have memories that extend beyond a single conversation.

However, I'm not sure it's in the SS alliance's best interest to oust her. The risk is that she is not rational enough a player not to attack the only people protecting her. But they are better off going against people who could actually mobilize a counter-alliance. That's not Meg, that's not Steve, that's not James. It might be John and it might be Jason. So I think they've picked the correct targets. Not to mention that if they are not in power next week, Audrey is somebody they may target instead of them. As long as Audrey is still a functioning lightning rod they're wise to keep her.

Yeah, it was Audrey I meant about the lying. Liz is already in a big enough deception, trying to keep from getting evicted long enough to get Julia into the house so both of them can play.

Of course once that happens, I'm fairly certain the "Sixth Sense" alliance is going to turn on them. Unless, of course, there are still a couple of the more powerful players not in their alliance that they need to get rid of.

So Liz voted to keep Jeff because she likes him? Is she crazy? He was actively working against her! The rest of the alliance will not be happy when they figure that out.

That was definitely a miscalculation on her part because, at the very least, she has to live with a big lie day to day. The rest of the alliance may not find out though because they suspect other houseguests.

What about Austin's obsession with Liz? That is definitely hurting his game right now.

Is his obsession with controlling her game, or is it personal? I have to wonder about all the stuff they're not showing that's available on the live feeds (I don't have access to those).

I have noticed that Liz and Julia aren't necessarily in agreement about how the other is playing.

I don't access the live feeds either. It is definitely personal. He admitted that.

Austin is all over Liz on the feeds. It's really hard to tell if she likes it or is just playing along.

I haven't seen any of this week's episodes yet, since I've been out of town, but I think it's pretty obvious who will be going home tonight (Audrey). I think that whoever wins the next HOH will really determine the course of the rest of the game. I could see the Sixth Sense imploding fairly quickly if someone else gets power. Clay and Shelli are playing both sides a bit and Austin has already talked with Jason about wanting to get rid of Julia as soon as possible so that he can basically have Liz all to himself...I'm sure Liz won't be pleased when that information gets back to her.

Yeah, this 'Judas' thing is really raising my eyebrows.

Austin seems like one of those players who thinks making moves for making moves' sake is the right way just because he's on television. Johnny Fairplay was the same way on Survivor, also a scripted wrestler.

She indicated to Julia, when they were switching places, that she was just playing along for game purposes. He is rubbing her the wrong way, and it may bite him later.

Well, Audrey is gone, no surprise there. I'd have thought that she would have been pulled out by the producers for not attending the veto meeting. They've kicked other people out for rules violations, haven't they?

Yes. Chima from season 11 was kicked off the show for refusing to wear her microphone, covering up cameras so they could not see her, and refusing to come to the diary room.

Audrey was not quite as unruly. They did give her a penalty vote. She was cast out by a vote of 9, plus a 10th penalty vote, for refusing to attend the veto ceremony.

Other people who have been kicked out of the house were kicked out for far more.

For all Chima did she wasn't actually kicked out until she destroyed a microphone. Justin, Scott and Willie were kicked out for violence or the threat of violence.

The slightest bit of violence will get you kicked out immediately but anything else they have a great deal of tolerance.

Must be a new policy, then, because quite a lot of what Evil Dick did would be considered violent, even attempted assault, by normal people (as in attempting to burn another houseguest with a lit cigarette).

I turned off that season the moment I saw Jeff, Jordan, Brendan and Rachel were all back in, so I missed that. The other three cases it was the first thing.

Austin, I wanted to like you, but you make the stupidest game moves.

Horrible. The "full proof" plan that blew up in everyone's faces wasn't such a great move either though. The game is unpredictable. Few things are ever really full proof.

I think you may be thinking of "foolproof"? ;)

Yeah, Austin has become a fool and I'm rather hoping he'll be backdoored. It was incredibly stupid of him to lie so blatantly to Vanessa - didn't he learn anything from how Audrey kept lying and got caught? And I predict that unless Liz/Julia wins the veto, the twin twist will be over. I can't imagine people wanting both of them in the house simply because it's getting to the point where even a 2-person alliance can tip the balance.

Yeah, Liz and Julia won't both be in the house for long, but in the short term they will have Vanessa, Shelli and Clay protecting them so they may survive a couple weeks. Also this whole DarkMoon thing may give Vanessa a foothold with some other people. Who is supposed to be in this alliance? James, Meg and Jason, was it also the twins or also Jackie?

I lost power halfway through the veto competition and probably won't have time to see the rest of the episode. What was the sequence of events that lead to Jason going up instead of Austin?

James did his part in trying to throw the competition but Liz pulled out a win anyway, and Vanessa's plan blew up in her face (the competition was thisclose - just another second and a half and Clay and the other nominee would have won). She kept fretting about "getting blood on her hands" and possibly losing Clay if he were evicted, and of course she was furious with Austin.

As we saw tonight, Austin literally begged and crawled his way back into Vanessa's good graces even if it was just to keep the numbers up in their alliance. Otherwise, his heartfelt "love for Liz" and willingness to evict Julia and telling all this to Jason and then lying to Vanessa about it would definitely have meant his going on the block instead of Jason.

In the end, it was purely about keeping the numbers up in the Sixth Sense alliance. The only reason Austin isn't on the block is because Vanessa, Clay, and Shelly (the real core alliance) still need his vote. Otherwise, his stupidity of telling Jason about Liz and Julia and then lying about it was sufficient reason to boot him. When Vanessa realized that she needed to find someone from the other group, she was reminded that of all of them, Jason is the one who had the ability to figure things out and the deviousness to turn the others against her and her alliance.

So now Jackie and Meg are angry because Vanessa had talked to them about Austin and they were expecting him to be put on the block. Vanessa was damned no matter who she put up unless she chose John or Steve - I don't think she's got any particular reason to target either of them, and I don't recall her having made any deals with them. She could have chosen one of them, but why evict a couple of floaters who don't seem to have any strategy beyond winning as many competitions as possible and being as invisible and inoffensive as possible? Neither is a threat right now, and Vanessa's main goal was to help the twins stay around long enough for both to be in the game and part of her alliance.
