Even if the beta and alpha fleet is happy to take us on as a gamma, without any opportunity to dump their fleet marks and only doffs, which I am pretty sure they need themselves, do you think they would be content with just having the perks of higher discounts and XP bonus?

I would rather take a gamma fleet up below us giving us the opportunity to dump our excess marks, allowing the gamma fleet to progress faster through the low-mid levels to higher levels and being the middle man to an alpha.

i just don't see it as benefecial to any fleet in the armada to have a fleet as high as ours as a gamma.

The system is designed to have changing armadas I believe.
The alphas stay, while the gammas leave fairly often to become betas esewhere or go with a beta when it's time for them to become a new alpha.

Why would any fleet want to stay a gamma forver? At some point you don't benefit from the dilithium discount anymore because you don't have any more upgrades to run.

If I am overuled in this, tha's how it will be, but I really do not believe it is ideal.

Joining a group of T5 fleets as a gamma fleet, to me seems pointless.

All they seem to be interested in is the armada level, and the discounts (XP to them, and Dilithium to us). For them they will benefit from getting almost the full XP discount from the off, but for us the Dilithium discount would not matter until we finally get to the T5 upgrades which won't be for some time.

Personally I believe we should either join a full T5 fleet as a Beta or go it alone. Find ourselves some T3 fleets as Beta's and some T0 > T2's as gamma fleets.

The whole point of this system is to help fleets grow, and enable us to gain fleet marks much more quickly. joining as a gamma fleet with a bunch of T5's seems too go against this.

Fixed that for you, otherwise completely agree.

That said, the House of TrekBBS is a valid gamma fleet. It provides ample opportunity for beta and alpha fleets to dump resources and brings some fleet experience to benefit from.

It really depends on what you guys value as more important, gaining fleet credits or building a strong armada.

I'm more concerned about a strong armada because Cryptic has been talking heavily about Armada Levels and they've said this is just the start of the Armada system. I suspect that they will be doing something like releasing Armada starships or Armada gear that are stronger than fleet ships and fleet gear.

I think it should be balanced. This is the one thing I feared would happen, all the big fleets joining together in mega elite clubs, leaving the small ones once again in the dust, this time for good.
Sure we have the chance to become a junior in the big boys club, but if too much emphasis is put on fleet levels the rift between small and big fleets will be irreparable.
I would hate it.

After doing my reading on this, I agree that we should be a beta fleet. We may not find our alpha immediately, I think we'll need to be patient on this. The thing we have going for us is that we're a low stress fleet, I can't speak for anyone else, but I've never had a conflict with anyone here. Probably within a few days or weeks, there'll be open beta spots opening up.

We should watch the STO forums carefully, I'm sure there'll be good opportunities for the fleet, just maybe not day one.

The new research lab fleet holding, now includes weekly projects (they say weekly but they are for 5 days) that give all fleet members passive boosts depending on which project is active, and they all share a 5 day cooldown.

These project details are from a T3 research lab

Combat Performance Boost
+20% all damage (ground and space)
+40 all damage resistance rating (ground and space)
+10% speed and turn rate (space)
+10% run speed and dodge (ground)


Dilithium Ore Boost
Earn 10% Bonus


Skill Point Boost
Earn 5% Bonus Skill Points/ Specialization XP
requires


All these projects require the following to run
200,000 expertise
21,000 Dilithium
750,000 fleet credits
256 fleet marks

There are also Tier 1 and 2 versions of these, but due to the level of the base on tribble I was unable to get the details.

Well, the concensus here seems to be to become a beta, not a gamma.
So unless a beta position opens up with Kodiak, we respectfully decline but thank for the offer.

Apparently there are weekly projects of which you can run only one at a time.
So what do you want as a default project?

Dilithium Ore bonus, Skill Point bonus, or combat effectiveness bonus?

The way I understand Skill Point bonus is, it means personal skill points, not starbase skill points.
Skill points = Spec points!

Though skill points have one purpose, to enhance someones combat effectiveness.

I'm good either way, don't have a strong preference. Guess spec points would be a good choice as well, gain permanent advantages and level up the characters.

Anyone got a line on an Armada to join yet?

Unless someone has legitimate concerns about them for some reason, they seem like a good enough option for now.

We should also consider slotting the Dilithium one to co-inside with the Dilithium weekends

Anyway until we reach t1 on the research base we won't have access to them, and according to the patch notes they are not available yet even if the base was a high enough tier.
