‘Superman & Batman’ movie will follow ‘Man of Steel’

There's a purported plot outline on IMDB for this. Link

If that is in any way accurate, I like it a lot. I see a lot of potential in it.

Sounds great. There really aren't any obvious false notes in the synopsis; if it's a fake it's vastly better conceived and written than any other I've seen over the years.

Certainly a neat explanation for why there's always so much goddamned Kryptonite on this planet.

BTW, what's the difference between "masquerading as a wealthy humanitarian" and being one - unless, you know, the checks bounce? ;)

Well, humanitarian implies a certain level of morality. If you donate money to charity and like to kill people for fun you're not really a humanitarian, for instance.

Yeah, I don't think that's an issue in this case.

Beyond which, in the real world we've got more than our share of wealthy people heading up humanitarian efforts who've done more than their share of killing. Any former President (of either party, folks, of either party) qualifies.

I stopped reading the synopsis about halfway through, just in case it turned out to be real. I'm interested to hear what the setup of the movie might be, but I don't want a blow by blow, so I'm not sure how the term was used.

That being said, there's a difference between a humanitarian and someone who publicly appears to be a humanitarian. That's kind of my whole point. Just because you head a humanitarian organization that doesn't guarantee that you personally are a true humanitarian.

This also gets into much messier questions of exactly what is moral that can't really be solved here anyway (ie, plenty of people would have no moral issue with a president ordering troops into war under the right circumstances, while others might not even allow for the idea of immediate self defence). Killing is, of course, also far from the only consideration when it comes to determining morality.

...just like they missed the point when Superman "flew halfway around the world to stop the world engine while innocent people were dying in Metropolis," as if the two missions weren't directly linked, and that by destroying the world engine, the one part of the mission which only he could do, he not only saved more innocent lives in Metropolis, but saved everyone on Earth as well.

Exactement. My fear is that some of the critics will continue to pointedly ignore exactly what you've reminded us of here.

Of course they will. Never underestimate the power of cognitive dissonance.

In a UK context, I'd suggest Jimmy Savile. Raised £1,000s for charities over the years. Simultaneously, he was using his charitable endeavours as a cover for almost unparalleled widespread child abuse and general sex offending. Not only did he get away with it during his lifetime but he was friendly with royalty, politicians and, IIRC, received a papal honour of some sort. A police report after his death described him as 'the man who groomed the nation.'

Ditto. I've read a lot of purported outlines over the years that just seem like wishful thinking/fan fiction. This does seem a coherent(ish) plot outline I can imagine Snyder pursuing.

Then again, I remember reading Vincent Ward's outline for Alien 3 and thinking 'seriously?'. :)

I don't care what anyone says, I think this looks awesome and I can't freakin wait.

Although it is kind of funny that the movie is called Batman vs Superman and it's Wonder Woman that is front and center on the cover. :D

Batman WILL use Kryptonite also

Batman and Superman square off for the first time

If you’re going toe-to-toe with the son of Jor-El, you better come correct. For his climactic rooftop brawl with Superman, Batman outfits himself with a reinforced mech-suit equipped with strength-augmenting armor and, yes, kryptonite. The design resembles the one used for the confrontation between these two in Frank Miller’s The Dark KnightReturns.

It was kind of obvious that Batman would use kryptonite in one way or the other just to be on the same level as Superman. There was no way that an armor suit alone was going to be enough. It just makes sense.

Well everybody else has some kind of alter ego in this movie, so I guess it only makes sense that Lex would have one as well. And would want to appear as just some harmless tech billionaire to keep people from focusing too closely on what he's doing.
