It may be a small town but from what I've seen of the photos you've posted it's a pretty-enough town. Mind you, I've never lived in an urban area with less than about 100,000 people in the central city so I don't know small-town living and that kind of quiet from a hole in the ground.

We're a town of about 8,000, so it's definitely quiet, and it's a pretty peaceful town, too, for the most part. It's mostly rolling hills and farmland, too.

There are a universe of small towns around here, some so tiny that if you blink while driving through you'll not only miss the one stoplight but travel through the next town as well. They're often interesting and fun to visit or drive through, but as a guy who prefers having lots of stores and restaurants to choose from, a good local entertainment scene and a well-run, competent public transit system I'm glad I'm in a city of this size.

We're just big enough to give our residents lots of options but small enough to have a "little city with an attitude" atmosphere. We're the right size for you to get most places you need to go in a short amount of time but not so big that you feel swallowed up by the area.

I don't mind saying I feel you're lucky in that regard. If I want something from a store other than the grocery store, I have to travel 2 towns over to get there. We don't have comic book stores, no malls, no big department stores, nothing open later than 10 PM other than the United Dairy Farmers gas station on the outskirts of town.

Our public transit consists of one bus that's actually from the next town over, and they stop by at 9 AM, and again at 5 PM, three days a week.

I've mentioned this before, but our food choices are pizza, chicken, Taco Bell, pizza, pizza, pizza, and pizza. Oh, and the blessedly wonderful Chinese carry-out next to the Dominos. Their chow-mein is soooooo good.

Oh, yeah. Chinese food is glorious no matter the size of a person's city or town. The Chinese restaurants here are some of the best buffet food you can get.

Ours is so small the second you walk in the door, you're already at the counter. There's a small door off to the side that leads to a dining area that seats about 6 people at most. You can look over the counter, though, and see the cooks preparing each meal, and it is fun to watch.

Being a planned community, our color options were limited by our neighbors...who had already chosen yellow.

Looks like some of the salamanders I saw in my part of Virginia growing up. The red spots on the green body are almost identical to the salamanders I would see when I was a kid and having adventures in the mountains and woods.
