Aquaman movie official announcement

The only ones that were truly great movies in my opinion were the first Iron Man and Winter Soldier. Guardians and the first Avengers were pretty good after that, but everything else has been pretty blah and unmemorable as far as I'm concerned.

In fact I think the new Daredevil series was better than nearly all of them, since it thankfully doesn't have to be so safe and formulaic.

The first Iron Man and the first Captain America, for me. The Avengers movies are pretty decently entertaining too, but in many ways they're also a mess.

The Thor movies are dreadful.

I was a huge DC fan in my earlier teens and got into Marvel little later. Both have had my attention, but I don't read comics anymore. Well, very rarely.

I have, however got involved in the MCU - I've seen them all and will continue to follow them. The DC movies, it's too early to say. I liked the old Cristopher Reeve Superman films and would have preferred another Routh movie to a reboot, but I liked Man Of Steel well enough. It hasn't made me particularly hungry for Batman Superman though, and Suicide Squad's leaving me cold.

Aquaman was always a C list character to me, but Stargate's Momoa is an actor I like, and the costume looks great. I will probably go to see it.

Until Daredevil, DC has been blowing Marvel clean off the TV, but they just don't seem to be translating that expertise into building expectation for their movies...

Well they did a pretty good job of building up the hype for MOS beforehand thanks to some very cool trailers, so I'm sure they'll be able to do the same again for the newer movies.

Audiences may not be especially interested in BvS at the moment, but once they see Batman and Wonder Woman in action (along with all the other characters and villains), and get a better sense of the true scope of the movie, they'll probably start getting more excited.

I wouldn't consider myself "indifferent" as I plan to see ALL of the movies currently being made based on DC properties, but I get more excited about Marvel projects simply because the comics I grew up reading were (and still are) primarily Marvel.

Also, Marvel seems to have a more clearly defined plan than DC, who seems to be making it up on the fly. Not that there's anything wrong with making it up on the fly. They can and probably will get a good shared universe out of it, I'm just not convinced of it yet. Although, I would love to be totally wrong.

Also, if the tone of the DCCU is going to be similar to the tone in MoS, that will be a mark against it in my book. YMMV.

Well if nothing else, I'm a lot more excited for the DC movies than I am for whatever Fox is doing with Fantastic Four or the umpteenth X-Men/Wolverine movie.

I don't deny the studio is looking to make money here, but they're also not just "throwing something on the screen" either. These are some pretty iconic DC characters we're talking about here, that I'd say are at least as deserving of a movie as Thor or Guardians of the Galaxy or Ant-Man.

My point is no matter how iconic the character, if the movie itself is bad then it does not really matter. Who the hell is more iconic than Superman, but out of his 6 movies, there are only really 2 that are mostly considered to be good. And while all of the other movies have their fans, they are not universally accepted as good. I think Superman deserves better than that, and I'm not even really a Superman fan. I like him and would love to see a good movie with him in, but I don't have faith in WB.

And I don't think anyone had perfected anything.

More good movies means more good movies.

But quantity does not equal quality and just more movies to throw on the screen is not better, like ASM2, Xmen3, and Superman 4, for some examples of movies that had iconic characters that were not good.
