Aquaman movie official announcement

I'm picking up the feeling that there seems to be a huge amount of indifference about the coming DC movies.

Is this the case ?

Don't know about here but elsewhere I've seen a lot of people saying DC's movies are trying to play catchup and copy with Marvel's movies but with only a quarter of the effort and forethought.

It stars Khal Drogo so that makes me want to see it, but it's from the gdirector behind a couple Fast & Furious movies, which makes me not want to see it. Hmm...

Sounds like the usual fanboy complaining to me. Mostly by people who tend to treat comic publishers ( and other media) like sport's teams. "I don't like DC, I'm a Marvel fan!" I've seen positive remarks regarding DC's up coming features, but they tend to be drowned out the "Youtube" negativity types.

Unless you meant to quote my above post.

I think it's feigned indifference for the reason I mentioned.

Maybe if the DCU was based on more than "Marvel's making money, so let's throw something on the screen with superheroes and we will too!" the would be less of the complaining or disdain you speak of.

I mean, now that Mad Max did well and Jurassic Park just set a record tell me that some other post apocolyptic movies and dinosaur movies aren't going to suddenly be green light to go ahead just because they percieve that there's money in it.

The DCU may end up to be full of very good and well made movies, but we have not seen any evidence yet to that fact, or I haven't anyway.

If fans did something more than bleat "Marvel's making money, so DC's movies should be just like Marvel's" they'd be less tiresome.

Wan did a great job on FF7, so this is good news.

I'm scared, Dennis, I agree with you. Is it the end times already?

I don't deny the studio is looking to make money here, but they're also not just "throwing something on the screen" either. These are some pretty iconic DC characters we're talking about here, that I'd say are at least as deserving of a movie as Thor or Guardians of the Galaxy or Ant-Man.

And while the Marvel movies have all been very profitable it's not like they've all been masterpieces or anything (in fact many have been pretty darn forgettable as far as I'm concerned). So it seems silly to me to hear fanboys talk like Marvel has somehow "perfected" the superhero movie and no one else need bother.

Please.

Yep. About half the Marvel movies I've seen have been worth sitting through...once.

Complete agreement on that. Without the gimmick of the build up to the Avengers and the shared universe most of these movies do not work as very strong films of their own.

I was talking to my brother about this recently. He is has no real knowledge of these characters outside the movies. He goes to most of them because he has 12 year old son. He feels Marvel's movies are watchable but forgettable. They enjoy watching The Flash on tv more.
