Captain America: Civil War - pre-release discussion, news, rumors, etc

Re: Captain America: Civil War - pre-release discussion, news, rumors,

No, that conversation was at the new Avengers facility we saw at the end of the movie.

yeah, where he runs into her as she's kind of staring off into space.

Re: Captain America: Civil War - pre-release discussion, news, rumors,

I think it's a bit of a stretch to say that hoping Nat & Bruce might hook up was his primary motivation for sending her to bring him in. The way I interpreted what he said is that it did occur to him that the two of them might at least make a connection. An outside hope at most.

It's also worth remembering that for all his good intentions, Fury may be one of the MCU's most ruthless and manipulative characters. As such it's also possible that he mostly wanted them to connect as a means to reigning in the Hulk.
We know he was reviewing the footage of the incident at Culver University in IM2, so he probably saw that even in midst of all that chaos, it was Betty that who was the only thing able to get through to him and the only one he not only didn't attack, but actively protected.

Having someone with that kind of leverage on the team and willing to take Fury's orders (which Betty obviously wouldn't in a million years) AND be a competent field operative would be an invaluable asset. He couldn't force the situation, but he could do his best with what's at hand, as he said. And if that's also a good thing for Nat's emotional well being, so much the better.

Re: Captain America: Civil War - pre-release discussion, news, rumors,

A great-grandaunt perhaps, but almost certainly not a great-great-grandaunt. There's have to be a string of pretty young pregnancies for that to happen.

Let's assume 25 years per generation, which is probably a bit young by today's standards.

Peggy has a kid in 1946 (unlikely at this point);
Peggy has a grandkid in 1971;
Peggy has a great-grandkid in 1996.

Emily VanCamp was born in 1986. Even the possibility of Sharon being a great-granddaughter seems fairly remote.
Not so remote. I'm 54 and I have a great-grand-niece. My sister is 64 and is a great grandmother.

Re: Captain America: Civil War - pre-release discussion, news, rumors,

Move it up a decade, say Peggy ( or her brother/sister ) has a kid in 1956 instead. Peggy'd be ( or her brother/sister would be) 35, a bit late (for that era) to become a mom but not unreasonably so. That child then has Sharon in 1986. Boom, the dates line up.

Fresh set of rumors, courtesy of JoBlo.

Among other things...

Falcon to get his "Redwing". Unlike the comics, Redwing won't be an actual bird that Sam is in telepathic contact with, but rather a mechanical drone.

Scott Lang to appear as both Ant-Man and Giant-Man.

Lang will ride one of Hawkeye's arrows!

I hope they bring this iconic image to the screen.

That is actually a perfect idea. Drones, or even a fleet of drones that he can mentally control, fit perfectly with the Falcon.

Probably not mentally controlled so much as run by an intelligent (but not sapient) program like JARVIS, FRIDAY etc. that's linked to his HUD.
But yeah, a UAV for Falcon is actually a really good idea. Maybe it'll work like a smaller scaled version of Veronica from AoU? Not just there for fire support but also dispensing spare equipment, ammo etc. Bonus points if it can clamp on to and fold away on the back of Falcon's exo-suit. ;)

All of those rumors sound pretty cool to me.

Re: Captain America: Civil War - pre-release discussion, news, rumors,

I'm surprised this wasn't mentioned in the thread (unless I missed it somehow), but Samuel L. Jackson says he's not in this film. I find that kind of surprising but guess that makes it a little less crowded.

I highly doubt Spider-Man's role will be very substantial in this movie, so I'm not worried about it.

Re: Captain America: Civil War - pre-release discussion, news, rumors,

Other recent reports say there's no fight, they're just being cautious. Seems like Tom Holland and Charlie Rowe are the favorites with Charlie Plummer and Matthew Lintz in strong contention (reconciling the different reports: all of them list Holland, two list Rowe, and one lists Plummer and Lintz).

I don't think Spider-Man should take more than two weeks of filming given that I'm expecting a DOFP Quicksilver amount of screen time, so I'm not too worried about them taking their time.

Re: Captain America: Civil War - pre-release discussion, news, rumors,

I suspect he'll have even less screen-time than that given the amount of characters involved. Probably not much more than Peggy Carter in AoU screentime. Both Kevin Feige and Robert Downey Jr. have said that this is still primarily a Captain America movie, so I imagine that most of the announced Avengers will be appearing in a limited context. They need the Avengers at the begining to initiate this movies equivilant of the Stamford incident, and we might not even see most of them again after that. Who knows?

I suppose since I've been hearing that Spiderman's involvement in the Civil War storyline was so big in the comic, I'd expected the same here. But I keep forgetting that the comic and movie will differ quite a lot. So yes, I suppose a small cameo or 5 minute scene might be all there is for Spidey.
