Tasha Yar Stardate Inconsistencies.

I hope I'm not beating a dead horse here, but I did do some searching on these inconsistencies and have not found anything. so please bear with me and here we go.

I won't call them plothole, but they are an inconsistency or and error of some sort.

in short,

Tasha is killed in Skin Of Evil
She is alive in Arsenal Of Freedom and The Big Goodbye

So here are the Stardates:

Skin of Evil 41601.3
Arsenal Of Freedom 41798.2
The Big Goodbye 41997.7

So, Skin of Evil MUST take place after the other two, regardless of the Stardate.

So I don't know what's going on here.

I hope I have this right too. Am I mistaken or is this a real error of some sort with the Stardates?

Or maybe it's just Q messing with things again.

I've often wondered if the producers of the show had an original broadcast schedule which got scuppered by Denise Crosby's decision to walk. Just supposition on my part, so take it with the grain of salt it deserves, but bear in mind that "Angel One" (stardate 41636.9, and featuring Tasha Yar) ends with the Enterprise warping off to investigate Romulan activity along the neutral zone, something that isn't followed up until the end of the season ("The Neutral Zone", stardate 41986.0). I know there's some distance in the stardates there, but there is a part of me which still wonders if there was ever once a plan for "Angel One" to segue into "The Neutral Zone", but which they had to alter their plans once it became clear Crosby wouldn't be around to film the latter.

My guess is -- and I stress again this is just me building sandcastles here -- but maybe there was a vague plan to shuffle a few of these episodes around, and some were evidently filmed before others but may have been intended to come much later in the season than they ultimately did, and the need to throw Tasha's death into the mix ended up screwing the pooch as far as those plans were concerned.

"Symbiosis" was produced after "Skin of Evil" and in one of the last shots you can see Crosby waving goodbye.

I know TNG stardates are supposed to have some kind of system, but they'll always be random, meaningless strings of numbers to me (err, except for the reboot ones, which are just the year)

They hadn't nailed down the stardate system in season 1, there is no rhyme or reason or sequential ordering. Starting in season 2 they go in order 98% of the time from 42000.0-42999.9 etc in each season.

She's actually waving towards on-set visitors.
Denise Crosby: Well I knew it was going to be my very last shot of the entire show - what I perceived to be my last shot - so I wanted to just do what I thought would be a bloop on the blooper reel and wave goodbye to the fans. Well then they said, "Cut" and they moved on.

Thanks. Wasn't in a position to dig that quote out last night. :techman:

The weird thing is that TrekCore has, or used to have, the penultimate scripts for the first season episodes instead of the actual shooting scripts - and those omit all the stardate references that create this "Tasha Trouble"!

Basically, all the relevant stardate stuff is Stewart voiceovers rather than something that would need to be filmed. I wonder when the 'dates were really nailed down (possibly after the episodes were shot, even!), and whether there was deliberation involved or not...
