Kurtwood Smith

Kilana2

Vice Admiral
Admiral
I like this actor who hat several remarkable appearances in Star Trek:

DS9 - Thrax
VOY - Annorax
TUC - President Ra-ghoratreii

Not to mention his roles outside ST:

The Dead Poet's Society among others, as Neil Perry's father.

The TV series Resurrection is shown on German free TV since the first of June. Sadly I missed it.

Which of his Star Trek roles do you like best?
Any other thoughts?

All those roles are excellent. (I do believe he passed away some time back. Very sad. Outstanding actor.)

I shall always remember him as Clarence Boddicker from the original RoboCop. He knew how to play a bad guy deliciously well. :)

What!!!! He's alive and well.

Don't say shit like that, man! :( we've had enough bad news in recent months as it is.

Great actor. He will always be Annorax to me.

Y'all are forgetting one role. That said:

I mentioned Dead Poet's Society. It's Robin Williams who is no more. Maybe Martok has confused the actors. Big error, though

Annorax. Definitely.

(Seems that Kurtwood Smith has rather horrible luck with time travel in most roles he plays. Anyone ever seen the short film 12:01 PM? :( )

TUC - President Ra-ghoratreii
As I recall, the President in The Undiscovered Country was nameless.

Correct. Memory Beta states that he was given this name in the novelization of TUC. However, it is unclear if he is Deltan or Efrosian.

He's Efrosian. Same race as the Saratoga helmsman in ST IV. (Deltans are bald.)

What I'm wondering is, why do people think Ra-ghoratreii was supposed to be blind? I don't see any evidence of this in the film.

As to Ra-ghoratreii, I would never have taken him to be a Deltan.

I didn't realize that some people think he his blind. Where did they get that idea?

I would have liked Annorax to have a few more Red Forman mannerisms:

"Give my regards to Captain Dumbass!"

"Gentlemen, Time has just hung a welcome sign on its ass...and my foot's looking for a room!"

And here's the short film 12:01 PM that I spoke of.

It's not in the film, although I believe the novelization mentions it? Memory Alpha says that Mike and Denise Okuda also mention it in their DVD text commentary.

The glasses he wears in the extended scenes, as well as him appearing somewhat blind during the attack on Khitomer are the only hints at it.

Obviously it's time to rewatch or re-read TUC....

Somewhere I had seen a report that he'd passed on.

I'm glad to see that reports of his demise were exaggerated.

And no, I did not confuse him for Robin Williams. I know people here think I'm a fucking dumbass, but umm....no. :)

You could have googled him.

But I know it can happen. Sometimes it's the other way round: I realize years later that an actor has passed. It's because it was someone not especially popular.
I found out that the singer of a former German punk band is dead six or seven years after his demise......
