Crew Swinging

Bry_Sinclair

Vice Admiral

There are times when watching Trek episodes (as well as entirely other sci-fi shows) and find myself wondering how the crews from other series would handle things.

For example, I slot the DS9 crew into the middle of the Xindi arch on ENT, or VOY crew facing the brutal realities of Stargate Universe.

Am I alone in this?

This is not what I thought this thread would be about :shifty:

This thread's title implies something either somewhat x-rated, or the crew enjoying themselves at a children's playground.

Or some combination of the two, I suppose.

Possibly a rope tied to a tree near a swimming hole? Hmm...

The TOS crew in "I Borg". I was trying to decide whether Spock might advise sending Hugh back to the collective with a virus as being a coldly logical way to place "the needs of the many" (the citizens who might otherwise end up being assimilated) "above the needs of the few" (the Borg collective), while McCoy passionately rallies for the independence of this individual life-form and the barbarism of destroying an entire species when they too might one day be rehabilitated.
But then... I wondered if maybe they would actually take the *opposite* viewpoints: Spock might argue for the Infinite Diversity of Infinite Combinations that Hugh Borg represents, while McCoy might present the emotive response that if the Borg are not destroyed now, then many billions more people may suffer in the future.

I'd like to have seen "The Defector" and "Yesterday's Enteprise" made into TOS episodes. I'm not sure who Kirk's ace-in-the-hole would have been for the former, but it would still have worked well with either a Klingon or Romulan deserter.

VOY crew facing the brutal realities of Stargate Universe.

Yes, how would things go if the Voyager crew were in immediate contact with home after arriving in the Delta Quadrant and they were able to swap bodies with people in the Alpha Quadrant for purposes of having sex with their loved ones? Or if refueling the ship were as simple as flying into a star?

I'm honestly not sure how the TNG crew would deal with the tough decisions made in DS9 and VOY. Sisko had to make a few very un-Trek decisions with regards to the Dominion War, especially tricking the Romulans into an alliance. Similarly, Janeway needed to abandon the Prime Directive many times in order to ensure the safety of her ship, and even went so far as torturing prisoners.

I really like Picard, but I think that if he were in Sisko's position, he would have never gotten involved with the Romulans which would probably result in the Federation's defeat in the Romulan War. In Janeway's position, he might have kept his morals but caused the destruction of the ship, or at least its delay in returning to the Alpha Quadrant.

And, of course, Picard wouldn't be Space Jesus so who knows how the whole "Prophet" thing would turn out...

TNG's The Perfect Mate would be a wonderful TOS episode, just have to find a species to be the Ferengi.

:)

Now I've got to listen to the song about Charlotte swinging.

For the longest time I thought it was about actual swinging, not the ole switcheroo.

a rope tied to a tree near a swimming hole
That's a metaphor, right?
No, I mean a swimming hole. As in a pond, out in the woods somewhere. Haven't you ever read stories or seen TV shows/movies that show kids tying a rope to the branch of a tree near a pond, and using the rope to swing out over the water, then letting go of the rope so they can fall into the water?

WTF did you think I meant? :vulcan:

Put Sela (Tasha's daughter) as that Romulan senator stationed on DS9 during the Dominion war. The one that seemed reasonable at first, then set up weapon launchers on a Bajoran moon and forced a stand off.

Or even put her in the Vreenak role (it's a faaake) from Pale Moonlight. Her character is bitchy enough to make it interesting.

Captain Janeway as captain Garrett in Yesterday's Enterprise. Or even Sisko in that role. Switch the Klingons with the Dominion even.
