If you watch STNG on tv, do you ever wind up watching the blurays?

After having taken a break from most Trek watching, I watched a few marathon episodes, but I just can't watch the episodes for long on BBC America..cuts, commercials and blurry vaseline picture on most. I think there should be a law that they can only show the bluray HD versions!!

I've probably done it for Trek. Definitely done it in other cases; after a commercial break or two you will RUN for the DVD or Blu. :p

One of the reason I do not watch TV is commercials.

I cannot watch any move or Trek with damn adverts every ten minutes.

Only have dvds and an old tube tv here, so no, have never watched a bluray. When I used to tape Trek off the air, I usually paused tape between commercials.

My TNG Blu-ray's have an inch thick layer of dust on the cases. I'm sure I'll get around to revisiting them eventually.

The commercials can get pretty irritating, but not being able to afford any other way of watching (besides online) I get by.

Same here. Every show I watch, not just the various Star Treks, I watch on DVD now, and have for the last decade. If there is a new show I want to see (an EXTREMELY rare ocurance anymore) I wait for the DVD set to come out.

So similar to me it made me smile. :techman:

You want to know another thing I don't miss? Those annoying onscreen pop-up advertisements for other shows that used to be all through ENTERPRISE, and other shows. I wonder if they still do that?

I'm sure I saw a Family Guy episode [on my DVD's of course] where they make a gag with random adverts all over the screen which leads me to believe that tv is still putting adds in the middle of shows.

Yeah, The Simpsons did that joke too. Homer was watching TV, and he complained about the pop-ups too. Then there was a FOX pop-up going past him. He looked down at it, then ate it.

I saw that on DVD too, of course.

Yes, I do. I have a Blu-ray player in my home office, so if I am going in there for a couple of hours to do some work, I'll often put in a disc to play in the background. Also, quite often, I'll end up stopping the work I'm doing to watch the program.

I watched each complete season as I got them on blu-ray, then they went on the shelf (for now).

BBC America currently runs TNG on Fridays & Saturdays. If there's an episode or episodes I like, I'll watch.

When I get a new desktop built, and I can make "backup copies" of blu-rays again, I'll do a thorough rewatch.

I don't watch TV anymore. Haven't watched TV in four years now.

I don't miss it.

i keep a TV so I can watch DVDs and play PS3 games on it.

DVDs are a superior thing to me because they keep all the crap out of the shows I like to watch.

I do not watch shows or movies on TV. They tend to destroy the fun in every way thinkable. That's were Blu-Ray or any other video format comes in handy:
Watch it when you want, pause it when you want, have it in full quality, in full length, with end credits, and no station logo, no advertisement text on screen, and no voice overs.

I don't even use streaming services, as physical media usually have the better quality and more bonus features.

TV is good for live transmissions and not for anything else. Incidentally, in the Star Trek universe, TV seems to be there for just that, albeit rarely used.

I can't stand watching TNG on regular tv anymore. The show on BD should be a major selling point for getting more TV series in high-def blueray. The show looks amazing, i hate watching it any other way now.
