Tom Paris is too easy of an answer. So, just to be contrarian, I choose Neelix. I think his upbeat attitude and cooking would make for a good hangout partner.

I also voted for Neelix, among others.

At the risk of spoiling my stomach I´d like to taste his Rodeo Red´s Red-Hot Rootin´Tootin´Chilli.

Yes, I'd like to taste his Chili too, being a native Texan. :mallory:

If you are all going to eat Neelix's chili, you better invite the Doctor too. You're going to need him.

Tom Paris, actually. Who needs a doctor when a medical assistant suffices for medication?

Speaking of the Doctor: how about having fun with his holographic family? His fictional son with his Klingon friends...:klingon: B´Elanna was right. The family he chose in the first place was boring.

Or playing a round of "Photons be free"? Lookin´forward to meeting Jenkins, Marseilles, Torrie, Kymble, Tulak, Katanay and Three of Eight... aboard Voyeur. :guffaw:

If so, which role would you play?

Tuvok. I don't know what we would talk about, but he'd probably be the one who'd be least likely to piss me off.

When did he cook chili? I'm pretty sure I've seen the whole series, but i don't remember that.

I know for a fact leola root makes an excellent carb substitute for beans.

And an excellent carb substitute for meat.

Also, onions.

Also, tomato.

It was when they sent the Doctor to the Alpha Quadrant (strange that I just know that). Neelix said he'd try less (messing up the word) "jalapenos".

Well there ya go, the word 'less' should never be used with the word 'jalapenos'.

Starfleet are wimps!

Neelix should have offered Gagh and a very strong Blood Wine :klingon:. It would have turned the wimp´s stomaches.

I voted Tom, Kes and Neelix. Tom because he's into LARPing. Not entertaining to watch on a show, but fun to do. Kes because, relistically if I was stranded on Voyager I'd probably end up in the Hydroponics Bat anyway because that's all I'd be useful for until Naomi and the Borg kids are old enough to require a teacher (and because she's Kes) and Neelix because the kitchen is the other area I could be of use.
Also Kes and Neelix are civilians, even with them being aliens from the Delta Quadrant I'd probably have more in common with them than the rest of the crew.

I agree about the civilians. I would definitely find that easier. Neelix would be interesting and funny, I would thoroughly enjoy a DQ food tour.

I would not want to hang out with Kes, I'm pretty sure everything that came out of my mouth around her would sound like a huge clanging gong of unsweetness. She would make me uncomfortable.

As to the gagh, I would only want to try real gagh not replicated stuff. I have to know those worms are alive. It has to be authentic.

Ah yes, I remember now. And Neelix would undoubtedly add all kinds of weird alien ingredients that are intolerable to the human palate.

Then gagh should be more to your liking, Kor. :klingon:

^ To a Klingon, of course. ;)
In real life, the closest thing I've ever eaten are silkworm pupae.

Kor

I have eaten sea worms. Which were still moving when served. And yes we talked about gagh while eating them  The dish looked remarkably like gagh too. Though lets not forget there are umpteen kinds of gagh.

(Also eaten the silkworm pupae)

I've eaten mealworms (technically they're baby beetles, not worms) though the person who served them to me didn't tell me until after I ate them.

I've had those in Northern Spain and they were very tasty. Weird looking, but not bad.

For some reason I am deadly afraid of almost all sorts of insect larvae, maggots, grubs... I like spiders, I like snakes, I'll calmly sit there as bees crawl over my arm, but show me just one of those pale, squirming things and I tense up. Even worse are those caterpillars that move in clusters. I actually run screaming when I run across them in the forest.
I have no idea why I'm so afraid of them, I know they can't hurt me.

So eating any wormy thing would be a definitive no for me.

Mealworms are a big Science Unit for first grade in. The States, and when I taught first graders, as part of the Mealworm study, we gave out recipes for mealworms granola, cookies, brownies and chocolate covered Mealworms. Never again, but it was an experience!

@ teacake: PUPAE?!?!?!?!?!
I will NOT be messin' with The 'cake!!!

Back to the Poll:

For me, it was a tie between The Doctor and Paris. Both have wit and are capable of the Bon Mot. Both would make me laugh. Both could teach me lots of things!
