A trilogy by David Mack edited by Marco Palmieri, huh. Well, fine, just take my money!

(Congrats David; that's so exciting :))

^ Thanks, man. I'm especially chuffed to be writing for Marco again. As an editor, he's always had a knack for helping me bring out the best in my work.

^ Indeed. Marco has a pretty amazing knack for doing that with many authors. It doesn't surprise me at all that at Tor he's edited a couple of the series getting the most buzz in sci-fi/fantasy circles these days; if he edits it, I'll buy it. Man has impeccable taste.

Of course, if you write it, I'll buy it too, so this is just awesome all around.

And the concept sounds super cool. I'm so in. (Can you tell I'm excited?)

Just finished Disavowed and thought it was great. Congrats on the upcoming trilogy. I will be getting it for sure. I liked The Calling a lot and have been hoping you would get another chance to do some more original fiction.

That trilogy sounds really cool, I'll definitely be checking that out.

Just finished Disavowed. Great book! I think you nailed Bashir throughout the book. I was hoping to find that Control would be coming out sooner rather than later but I see you have the irons hot. Congratulations from a buyer of "The Calling". I will have to read some older novels from MU and DS9 to pass my time.

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed Disavowed; hope my other new books coming down the pike will interest you and keep you entertained until I'm able to negotiate a deal to write Section 31: Control.

Nope. It's available in ePub as well. I have it on my H2O and I'm going to finish it today or tomorrow.

    Ohh... A Batman/Star Trek crossover.

Will that be followed up by an opus called Section 31: KAOS?

And shouldn't it be Section 86: CONTROL?

In that case, I'm holding out for Section 31: 99...

    There's no deal yet?

Is that normal for a book whose title was already revealed at the end of the previous book, or did Pocket decide on the name independent of you and might have someone else write it?

What happened was, I had a four-book deal. I assumed Control would be book four.

My editors at Pocket decided my fourth book would be my contribution to the TOS 50th anniversary trilogy, Legacies.

While that decision was being made, I signed a three-book deal for a series of original novels with Tor Books.

Consequently, after I write Legacies, Book II: Best Defense (starting sometime next week, with a deadline in early November), I will be busy writing sequels to my original novel The Midnight Front through most of 2016.

By the time I am able once again to commit to writing a new Star Trek novel, I will most likely be jockeying for a spot in the 2018 schedule.

I hope this is not another Star Trek / Dr. Who crossover.

Maybe Section 31 is run by Maxwell Smart.

Nope. It's a reference to Hurt's role as "Control," the former head of the Circus (MI-6) in Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy.

Not sure how I feel about that.
On the one hand, I love that you're part of 50th celebration. And I'm also very excited you can do sequels to your own work. I haven't read that, I should really. But it must feel great to be able to do that.
However, no more MackTrek for a few years AND a longer wait for Control, that kinda sucks really. :(

That said, the more I hear about Midnight Front, the more excited I am for it. It sounds like a really cool original idea, and I'm kind of stoked to read it! Less MackTrek does suck, but we all know there's still lots to come.

If you are referring to The Midnight Front, you can't have read that yet (unless you're Marco Palmieri or one of Dave's beta readers I guess), as it isn't out yet. :)
