I still remember an old game called "Star Trek : Star Fleet Academy" It had a very good story about a team of Star Fleet Academy Cadets. I think that Star Trek, Star Fleet Academy is a good setting for the new Star Trek series.
Honestly, I'd be afraid that the network would turn it into "Star Trek: 90210."
Why not? It will surely has a chance to attract teen audiences, which is the next generation of Star Trek fans. Let the older audiences give Star Trek a chance to attract the next generation of fans. Plus, it don't has to be 90210, it can be like Harry Potter (without magic), where the protagonist will get adventure. whatever it is on Earth or at outer space.
Plus, we can always go to the space even with the Star Trek Starfleet Academy. The heroes are not always have to be the cadets. They can also be the teachers at the academy, which is Star Fleet officers and Staffs.. So the story can go two way. To tell the story about the teachers when they got order from Star Fleet to engage real space missions, and at the other occasion to go to the cadets, to give us a new sight of the Earth in Star Trek universe.
