I've been playing a lot of Mechwarrior Online lately. I'm generally sucking, but it's a hell of a lot of fun. Any other stompy robot fans?

Never played the Mechwarrior titles, but several friends and I had a clan in an older Xbox 360 title: Chromehounds. That game was a blast while it lasted.

I was not all that good at the combat in the game, but I made one hell of a Tactical Commander. (TC's would create 'Hounds.....'mechs... That gave them a view of the overall battlefield, and I could send my fellow players out to capture COMBAS...communication towers, necessary to keep communications between teammates and also opened up more of the map for TC's to see. Because of the military jargon I used, it inspired my clan to act, communicate, and think professionally, and with that attitude, we won many battles together.). :)

I think I only played Mechwarrior 2 and the demo of MechCommander.

Was pretty fun if I remember correctly but it's been a good few years since I've tried them

Cracking game, the Alien franchise is back on top with this game, and just a heads up, the only dlc worth buying is Expendable crew and Lone survivor, just to hear the voices of the original film cast(No Ash or Hurt though), but apart from that there is not really that much to the dlc, so try and get is as cheap as possible, forget the rest as they are simply challange maps, but overal you are not missing anything from the game in the dlc.

But the main game is simply fantastic, get the lights out, stick steam on big picture, hook it up to your tv, and get ready for a lot of jump scares.....

I figured as much. Still, even on sale the prices for those two DLCs were a bit high for what a gather is little more than an hour or three extra gameplay a piece.

Don't get me wrong, it looks well worth the time, but a better steam sale is always just a few months away and I still haven't cleared by backlog from last summer's sale. ;)

Finished up F.E.A.R. 2. It was a decent game. Will probably not play it again, but worthy of a bargain bin pick up.

Up next, GoWIII. I am pumped. I have wanted to play it for some time. It was just so far back in play order in my backlog. :bolian:

Have you considered FEAR 3 at any point, Dexter?
It's pretty decent. Haven't given it a replay for quite a while...but it was pretty cool. :)

^ I have, just haven't had the opportunity to pick it up yet. I know it's been out for years, but that's my MO when it comes to consoles. Pick them up late after any and all patches and on the cheap. 2 ended with me wondering wtf was going on so I should really find out.

Wow. That right there was the THIRD (T-H-I-R-D) instance that day that I either read or heard (Giant Bombcast) Chromehounds mentioned.

    What the fuck is happening.

Finished AC Rogue, so decided to dabble with Need For Speed Undercover for a total change of tone.

Nice. Not familiar with it myself, but the genre's always fun. :techman:

MW2 (and it's spinoffs) was one of my favorite childhood games. MWO is a blast, but much much harder - real people for one thing, and the speed of combat is crazy fast. Learning curve like a cliff.

    Alien: Isolation
I've beat the game five times since it's release, and I still can't stop playing it. This is a superb game that everyone should play, especially if you're a Alien fan. Alien: Isolation is the best use of the franchise license since Aliens.

    Minecraft
Just recently got back into this game. It gets better when you play with more and more people.

Aye, Alien Isolation is a great title. The first one in a long time (in the survival horror genre) that actually made me jump out of my seat. I will be revisiting it soon. Loved playing on the familiar Nostromo like decks, being able to identify "oh, this is where this event happened". :)

I started Final Fantasy Tactics. It seems fun so far, but its a little daunting. Its my first rewal experience with a SRPG, and it seems like something I might be able to get into.

I got to the fourth battle in Final Fantasy Tactics, and it murdered me. You get swarmed with archers and mages, and I got wrecked before I was able to get close enough to attack, because my characters have barely any movement range in the game. I like the combat and the idea of the gameplay, but its difficulty is ridiculous, even for an older game its completely unfair. I have too many games available to waste any more time with FF Tactics, which is a shame. I liked playing it, but it seems designed to frustrate, with no thought into making the game fair or fun.

Dorter Trade City is a common stumbling block for many new players, but the battle is quite fair. It's the first wake-up battle in the game -- a test to see if you've properly learned the gameplay mechanics. The first battle that will get you slaughtered if you try to brute force your way through it. Tell me your party and what you're having trouble with and I might be able to help.
