Your Dream Vacation

I want to go to New York. I've never been and there is so much to see and do, and me being a Hockey, Football, Baseball, and Basketball fan, I can go see the Yankees, Mets, or Rangers or Islanders.

Hubby and I have a "bucket list" trip---to go to Wales and England. We met at a convention, where, during conversation, we discovered we were both fans of The Prisoner when we were teenagers. Now, we're both fanatics for Doctor Who and all things British. So, yes, we want to go to Wales, see Portmeirion & Cardiff, and also go to London. We've both been to England before (I've been a few more times and seen a bit more than hubby---but it was over 20 years ago). We'd like to do all the touristy crap--especially a Jack the Ripper tour, visit Baker Street, Westminster--and maybe some of the countryside.

But...we're poor. Neither of us makes much money at all. We both like our jobs but just barely get by. By the time we'll be able to afford it, we'll be too old to travel. :(

1) What is your dream vacation if money and time were no object?
I like the mountains. I would find a nice cabin somewhere near lakes and rivers and spend my time hiking and cooking. However, I wouldn't mind the sea being less than an hour's drive away.

2) Who would you take it with or why would you rather be alone?
No, not alone. I'd take my boyfriend.

3) What is the best vacation you have ever taken?
I have been to lots of countries, so I am not sure. Every place has something to offer. Interestingly though, I would choose between two destinations in my own country, i.e. Greece: Santorini and Crete.

Scandanavia, a Danube cruise, American west coast.

Hopefully I'll get to do at least one someday.

I'm a mountain lover, too. But Santorini was probably the most beautiful place I've ever been. :adore:

I am extremely pumped - stoked - COOKED, even - for the trip to Toronto that I will be taking next month. Partly because I hate my job and can't wait to get away from it, but mostly because I love Toronto and I'm glad I can spend a whole week this time. :)

(I just hope the bloody Union Pearson Express will be done by the time I get there!)

This is not meant to take away from the other vacations I will be taking (Baltimore, Boston and NYC - Baltimore especially, since I will be able to hang out with the lovely Tora Ziyal ;) ) but this will be the first this year, and so I'm especially pumped/stoked/cooked. :D

(@Tora: CRAB CAKES! CRAB CAKES! ;) )

Not likely, I was thinking somewhere closer to Earth... Like exploring the city around Starfleet HQ :p I'd love to sample the nightlife there, you see...

my dream vacation would be travelling around Iceland on the Ring Road (length 1332 km) As I don't drive myself I would need someone pleasant to chaffeur me.

I have already had my dream vacation:

Several years ago I took a month off from work. Rented a car and drove cross country to attend my goddaughter's wedding. Spent a few days at Tahoe. Won $300 at the casino. Drove to San Jose and spent a couple of weeks with my best friend, the mother of the bride. We went to Hearst Castle. We went to San Francisco.
I was employed at a Hearst newspaper in the east. I got free tickets from a member of the Hearst family who worked at the same newspaper.

Then I headed home. Stopped in Vegas. More gambling. Did pretty well there, too.

Drove to Flagstaff. Went to the Lowell Observatory.
Went to the Grand Canyon, and on my way out of town, stopped at Meteor Crater.

I drove east on I-40. Stopped in Memphis and went to Graceland.

Then headed north, to visit my brother who had recently moved to Washington. Went to the air and space museum, the Vietnam Memorial, and finally headed home.Whew!

Madagascar. Some years ago I noticed that there was an organization that used volunteers to help with scientific/ecological research. Why have I hesitated? Expense (you pay your own way), and lack of time off from work.
