The Blacklist, season 3 *Spoilers!*

So how do we reconcile the scene in season one where Red and Tom met at the hospital where Lizzie's adoptive father was? Tom didn't know Red was the one who had hired him?

Possibly not--otherwise, it would make no sense at all. I imagine that the Major hired him, then told him he had another objective with Lizzie (when Berlin bought out the contract). It really needs further explanation, though, because right now it feels like pretty lame plotting.

That was one of the rules The Major quoted to the guy the FBI kidnapped -- no contact with him or the owner of the contract, unless specified. Red hired The Major to place Tom with Lizzie without ever meeting him in person.

I laughed out loud at the "I suck at profiling" thing. Definitely a breaking the fourth wall moment.

The episodes are all uneven. Red's way too powerful and omnipotent, the FBI is too stupid and reactive.

That was surprisingly good for a expositional clip show.

Am I correct that learning Red originally hired Tom was a new revelation? That really confused me since he was working for Berlin. I know they said he then started working for Berlin instead...

I still have last weeks episode on my DVR. I'm trying to get myself to watch it. But I just can't talk myself into it, lol.

I do enjoy the show, but I just have way too much other things that are taking my attention away.

Red hired Tom, Berlin usurped him. No other details were given. New revelation which I suppose gives more importance to Red helping Tom get away earlier.

Letting Tom walk scot-free made no sense. Wouldn't they have at the very least thrown him into one of those prisons that don't exist?

Clearly, the friendly would-be AG guy is going to be using Tom for something nefarious.

I thought this was a good episode that basically wrapped up a lot of plot threads, leaving me to wonder what the next major storyline is going to be. I thought the ending scene with Red was incredibly touching, where he explains to Liz how all the charity in the world will never make up for the sins you commit. That scene convinced me more than ever that she's not his biological daughter.
