The shows are similar conceptually, and Lost Girl definitely has a more "grown-up" tone. But in terms of quality, it doesn't hold a candle to Buffy. Besides, part of what makes Buffy brilliant is the perceived innocence of the Scoobies.
Eh. You've got a point. Although, I'd take the 1st 3 seasons of
Lost Girl over the last 3 seasons of
Buffy any day. Kenzi rocks!
Speaking of Scoobies (lol...I always loved that moniker for Buffy and Co.

)....I've been enjoying the hell out of Scooby Doo: Mystery Incorporated on Netflix.
Great voice cast. Especially with Matthew Lillard as Shaggy. (Lillard played Shaggy in the live action movies, and I thought he, and Linda Cardellini as Velma were the highlights of the otherwise less than memorable movies. He and Cardellini nailed the voices of their respective characters.). Mindy Cohn, from The Facts of Life voices Velma in this updated cartoon.
Patrick Warburton, probably best known as disabled testosterone man, Joe, from Family Guy, plays Sheriff Stone. Grey Delisle is Velma. Frank Welker is Fred, and sometimes Scooby Doo.
Great guest casting too....
George Takei, James Hong, Casey Kasem as Shaggy's dad, Linda Cardellini had a recurring guest voice, Harlan Ellison played himself in an episode (kind of a nice nod to the Scooby Doo Mystery Movies of decades ago), Udo Kier, Tricia Helfer, Dwight Schultz, James Marsters (Spike, from Buffy), Mark Hamill, Marion Ross, Florence Henderson, Maurice LaMarche, just.....hell, go to imdb and look at the guest cast....your jaw will probably drop if you love cartoons as much as I do.
Another reason I liked the Buffy gang's name of Scoobies....Sarah Michelle Gellar played Daphne in the live action Scooby movies as well. It just somehow seems right,
