How is Janeway sexy? (Part II)

I had an immediate crush on her when I saw her on Cheers.

I had an immediate crush on her

Crush.....sigh......such a female concept

Talk to me about vigorous fucking not crushing

hux... why do you consider Janeway a sexless reflection for women. Because many woman are not interested in having sex with her, or because you feel Janeway herself is not a sexual person, or that most women do not see themselves as sexual beings?

The first one. It's too innocent. It's like in the Simpsons when Lisa is always "crushing" on non-threatening boys called Corey

I know female sexuality can be more......what's the word?....fluid?, but to me, that fluidity is not what I think of when I hear the word sexy

Sexy implies sex......that at some point there will be some hot, stinking, sweaty and hopefully disgusting.......fucking

teacake, if I'm ever doing some writing and need help describing a girl-crush, I'm calling you first.

Well PMing, but you know what I mean.

I always thought a girl-crush was admiration rather than romantic/sexual thoughts, which is what teacake described.

There's regular admiration, like you admire Neil Armstrong and then there's admiration flushed with ardor. That's the crush. Crush means infatuation is at work. The degree of it and the make up of the person having it will effect how much of this is sexual and/or romantic.

In ye olde books you would see the crush going on between women, or sometimes men, and romance and sex would never be mentioned. Austen has girls smitten with older more socially astute women for instance. While that character might never have a sexual thought about her crush she certainly was in the (biochemical) throes of infatuation and psychologically attracted to the other woman in a way that in a heterosexual world would be reserved for a man.

Let's not lose sight that these are imaginary people we're talking about.

People write their reality. This was a way of talking about the kinds of intense same sex relationships that formed in an age when tumblr wasn't there to tell you it was okay to frak each each other.

Hmmm.

I've never watched ''The Simpsons" and had to google Lisa Simpson to find out the distaff posters in the sexy Janeway thread are being compared to an animated 8 year old girl and her schoolyard flirtations.

God is a girl. (Beware the photo-manips)

Rather than take offense at the comparison, I've decided I should just be happy to find out that after 25 years the animated 8 year old is still ONLY crushing at her advanced age.

Of course I also wondered how many "threatening" 8 year old boys grace that show for her to ignore. (Wiki only mentions Ralph, Nelson and Colin as potential "suitors" so I can't speak to the "Corey" question.)

There are many people on the trekbbs that want to "BE" Janeway, a Strong, Independent, No-Nonsense, Vital Woman and not a few people who simply want to be "with" a "real" Janeway, i.e. a Strong, Independent, No-Nonsense, Vital Woman.

Strength of a Woman. :bolian:

No wonder I love all the women in this show.

Neither of these 2 groups necessarily are, nor should be considered, "sexless". :cardie:

Hallelujah!

Just like the character herself shouldn't be considered "sexless", despite her refusal to engage in that activity during her sojourn on the ship. :vulcan:

Sex on fire.

As for your wish for something "hot, sticky, sweating..." this IS Star Trek after all. For that combination you'll have to watch nuBSG!

nuBSG/STV ;)

And now a "little something" for those in the "with" Janeway camp. :mallory:

Where Angels fear to tread.

Oh, and you're quite welcome, J'sG.

I never needed anyone to tell me it was Ok to do whatever I wanted. I still don't.

Kirkfan we are talking about Victorian times. And while lovely that you don't need validation from social media that is not the case with everyone nor does it have anything to do with my sentence.

I haven't pulled this out of my butt btw, there are many studies about the same sex infatuations in literature written before such things were discussed openly.

Ok then.
