Didn't Q tell them that they weren't ready for the Borg? That's why he didn't want them to engage with them. He knew they couldn't hold their own against the Borg.
The only thing that can defeat a Q is another Q.

That is what I would think or an equivalently advanced being.
What about "the Q gambit" where Q is afraid his race will cease to exist? I can't locate the plot but could someone spoil that for me?
Don't ruin the ending or anything, but what is Q afraid of?

They're afraid that humanity will surpass them.
I love the way the OP thinks. This is a seriously cool thread. So I'm going to task you with something. If you had infinite galactic resources, the compliance of all races and plenty of time to prepare. Could you come up with a plan to stop Q that doesn't involve any other Q?
Any replies are much appreciated.

Spoiler:

In his "home dimension" Q can be killed by a bullet, as seen in The Q And The Grey.

I think it would then be theoretically possible to tap into his dimension and blow up their home world...

A "bullet" made by the Q. The whole Civil War was just so that the humans could understand the Continuum.
Still, we saw that if a human being, eg Paris, gets his hands on one of these Q guns, he can kill a Q with it. That means that you don't need to be a Q to kill a Q.In his "home dimension" Q can be killed by a bullet, as seen in The Q And The Grey.

Yeah, it obviously wasn't a literal bullet...no more than the Q Continuum was a road in a desert with an abandoned gas station next to it. That's just what the humans see. What all these things really are, is incomprehensible.
Because Paris was using the weapon of a Q, in a form understandable to human beings. If that hadn't been made available and they had not entered the Continuum, a human certainly wouldn't be killing a Q.
It's a figment that only exists there. I seriously doubt Voyager or any aother Federation ship can re-enter; the Q can do anything in the universe with a thought, I seriously doubt they can't change the "locks" to the "door".
