Can Q be stopped?

Maybe, but look at some of the things the Q have done or been said to have done. What ever tech they may have, they are well advanced most if not all races in the Trek universe (since we have yet to be let know the real full extent of their capabilities).

Yes, but even regular Q once said that they were worried that humanity could catch up with them and even go beyond them, Q squared so to speak.

Maybe not. Quinn believed the Q had become stagnant. The Q Civil War and the birth of q could have jump started the Q's evolution and got them growing again.

What I don't get is that when they fire bullets at each other it creates supernovas in our universe. But humans could fire those bullets as well. What is it exactly that they were firing?

Maybe the bullets were made out of trilithium?

The guns and bullets were just an allegory for some extra-dimensional occurrence totally outside our field of reference.

I wonder when Q gave Riker the powers of the Q did he actually do that or was he just letting Riker think he was doing those things while Q read his mind and did it himself. Imagine the danger Q might have placed himself in- Rikers first action as a Q could have been to attack Q immediately...

Q has billions of years of experience being a Q. Riker was a rookie. I think Q and the continuum could easily handle anything Riker would try to do to them and then it'll be hell to pay. Remember that they execute their own kind when they misbehave.

Whatever they were using, our minds could not comprehend it. Captain Varley had a good line that might explain it. Paraphrasing: I'm like a caveman confronted with a tricorder.

So I'm going to task you with something.

He tasks me. He tasks me and I shall have him! I'll chase him 'round the moons of Nibia and 'round the Antares Maelstrom!

Oh, yes, and Q can be easily stopped by an El Aurian and an El Aurian weapon which I imagine looks a lot like a fork. ;)

Actually, that's the standard El Aurian test to see if you're human. It depends on how loud you shout after the fork stabs you... El Aurian favor big guns that they keep under their counter and ginormous hats... they tend to hate Qs and Borg alike...

Ah, true.

Maybe it's the claw thing Guinan does. Maybe all an El Aurian has to do is the claw pose.

Q wanted Riker to join the Continuum so they could understand and possess this desire because, if they did not, Humanity could one day surpass the Q.

Perhaps, humans themselves could eventually defeat the Q?

You would never want to stop the Q.

The Q are a natural part of the universe.

that's got me thinking: Would you WANT to stop the Q Contiuum?

Though there may be some ambivalence in regards to their intentions on peace, it's really been rogue Q who have caused trouble; most Q seem to keep to themselves and be peaceful. Who knows what forces around their capabilities that have evil intents, the Q are keeping at bay. Who knows what power vacuum will be filled when they are gone.

And for every malevoilent Q, there's probably at least one out there with good intent doing good things.

And why stop the Q? ARe they causing some kind of intergallactic war? Endangering the lives intentionally of others? Live and let be. If they are just really, really, really technologically advanced people, then they are still a form of life.

It's more of a "when" than a "if" situation. According to Q himself, the humans will eventually defeat the Q.

Actually, it's only the 'rogue' Q we've seen who are actually doing anything at all. Remember Death Wish? Most of the Q are so bored with immortality that they literally don't do anything.

So if the entire Q continuum managed to disappear, there would be no power vacuum left in their wake - only the lack of damage being done by rogues like 'our' Q. The Q, in general, aren't keeping the universe safe - they're just sitting around and doing nothing. Because from their perspective, it's all been done.

Well, we had better hope that they don't do a thing because when they do it turns ordinary stars into supernovas all over the galaxy.

Q can only be stopped by John de Lancie, who seems to not want to play Q anymore. :(
