Your Star Trek Magic Formula Pitch?

Am I wrong?

Yeah. Most people really don't care about Star Trek's human collaboration and neither did Roddenberry really. At least in 1966. He realized in 1966 that you have to entertain people first and foremost.

Magic formula? Kirk and Spock take on crazy shit. It worked in the 70's, 80's and even now.

Yes you are wrong. There is no magic formula. If there was every movie would be a block buster.

I find your formula to be gibberish.

What's gibberish about it?

Also I think the rule here is if you don't have anything to contribute....

The magic formula? I don't believe there is one. However I would say only a scant pinch of reverence and a large dollop of fun and adventure would be two good ingredients in any recipe. My formula would be akin to good, comforting fun food: a really well-prepared high-quality cheeseburger, crispy fries, and a thick chocolate malt; not a beef wellington with roasted new potatoes drizzled in truffle oil with baby squash, all paired with a meticulously chosen red wine.

In other words, nothing fussy. Nothing with pretense.

Probably a lot of conversations that go like this:

Network Executive Lady: We at the network want a dog with attitude. He's edgy, he's "in your face." You've heard the expression, "let's get busy"? Well, this is a dog who gets "biz-zay!" Consistently and thoroughly.

Krusty: So he's proactive, huh?

Network Executive Lady: Oh, God, yes. We're talking about a totally outrageous paradigm.

Just put that talking dog in Star Trek and bam - you're done.
Watch two episodes of early Simpsons and call me in the morning.

That's funny.

That's entertainment!

But its not Star Trek. Which is Entertainment with a dose of deepness to it.

I asked for your pitch. So far no one has given me one.

What I said above is exactly what I want from Star Trek...

Magic formula? Kirk and Spock take on crazy shit. It worked in the 70's, 80's and even now.

That's all I need Star Trek to be. Love the Abrams films and been watching Trek since 1975.

I'm not sitting through a 190 minute Star Trek movie. Not unless it includes Jonah Hill high on 'ludes and whacking off at a pool party over a blonde lingerie model.

Oh man, now I need therapy. :scream:
Hollywood is officially that local yokel business down the street that the Boss let his idiot cousin run into the ground.

Yeah, that's why there are so many successful and wealthy people there - they don't know what people really want to see.

You consider Simon Pegg a JJ minion?

I know they have their hands in the producer pie. We'll see about that.

Cue...the Forces of FATE & Destiny
Pegg has worked with JJ on other projects and JJ gave him the job. So yeah, "minion". Jung also has connections to Bad Robot.
