Therefore Matthew has been dressing super sexy all along.

I keep rewatching the scene with Clara going though the Doctor's time stream. I can't find any scene from Castrovalva in there. Neither at the start nor ending of The Name of the Doctor. The only once I can see that is Fifth Doctor era is Arc of Infinity . Inside the Matrix. With that and technically the Five Doctors during Pertwee's drive in Betsy. There is a scene that I can't place of Clara in near total darkness with some faint lights in the background...right after we see her overlooking the Tenth Doctor at the Library.

I've watched that episode a few times and I always wondered why Ten wasn't present in the montage. Now I go back and watch that clip and for some reason I was always thinking that was Matt, even though it's clearly David what with him being in the overcoat.

Nick Frost was okay, but this certainly was not the role of his life. Would have loved it if they'd gotten Brian Blessed for this. Also, and this is the Santa geek in me, there's eight reindeers on that sleigh, excluding Rudolph (who's ninth). Three reindeers, including Rudolph, is definitely too few.

The other Santa(s) had the extras.

Finally watched. Largely found it boring, predictable, and derivative. The last scene was awful, and just more of Moffat jerking himself off with how clever he thinks he is. I'll write up a more detailed reaction tomorrow when I've had more time to think on it.

I enjoyed the special for the most part. Like a lot of folks, I was anticipating Clara/Jenna's departure in this episode based on the rumours, and as much as I like Clara (for the most part; I really disliked her a lot thru Series 8), I felt the (first) ending with her elderly self was a nice, if bittersweet, swan song for the character. That said, I look forward to "Likeable Clara" and the Doctor on more adventures.

On a side note, is this the first time we've had the title of the first episode of the following season revealed at the end of the Christmas special? Is this an indication that the new season will be airing sooner rather than later?

Not the entire plot, no, but the dream-within-a-dream idea is definitely similar to Inception, even if it was taken from another source.

Reminds me of that time when some of these new fancy Trek shows not only inserted forehead Klingons into a TOS episode, but put Sisko in the place of Lt. Marlena Moreau. I had to take a quadruple dose of canonexiphan. Why sit and enjoy a fun episode, when I can spend the time throwing darts at a group picture of DS9 cast, and hate them for how much they ruined my beloved show? I could nail all of them by the forehead in my sleep – take that, robot of Sherwood.

I kind of enjoy the Dragonfire insert. Clara is kind of bouncy running in an eighties red outfit.

It's more a case that the scripts (at least several of them) are written as filming begins in about two weeks. We're still looking at an August/September premiere for series nine.
