Might be entertaining, might not. Won't know until it's available to watch. But one fictional construct is no more "real" than another.

That's not expansion. It's a list of talking points.
This is all personal opinion, an opinion you're welcome to have, but still an opinion. Star Trek has always had unrealistic physics. I liked the sets and location shots Abrams did. The original Star Trek is, by far, my favorite yet I see no character assassination in the Abrams films. I've liked both stories the movies told, they are flawed but still entertaining.
I think some people are so wrapped up in "Roddenberry's Vision" that they forget that Star Trek is entertainment. The saddest thing is that they don't even know what "Roddenberry's Vision" is. They just wield those two words like a sledgehammer against whatever they happen to dislike.

nu-trek is fake-looking for a reason: everything was done as CHEAPLY as possible... to MAXIMIZE PROFIT (to the extent that i think it is fraud / embezzlement) =(
think about it: u DON'T see the money on the screen, like you do in GOOD sci-fi ;-)
