Where is the best place to put a discussion of TOS vs. AbramsTrek? TOS? Here?

I did not enjoy NuTrek. Even on its own, I found it dumb and nonsensical. Calling it Star Trek just added insult to injury.

I'm not alone in this opinion, though I often feel rather lonely in it.

Abrams' two films were the Star Trekiest films to have ever Trekked. Like, to the max.

Ironic that ST was built on IDIC - a tolerance for differences and opinions.

No, it wasn't.

It was built on a couple of years of ripping good skiffy dramas and adventure stories - with spaceships! - before Roddenberry hit on the idea of IDIC as a way to sell some mail-order jewelry during a third-season episode.

I don't hate the films. For me, I am finding difficulty in adjusting my perceptions and being adapatable. I grew up in a different time when there was an inverse ratio of talk vs action (more talk, less action). Today, there can be films where a battle takes up 1/3 of the running time. I can't remember films from the '70s and '80s where this was the case. This is reflected in the focus groups for the last film, where the members requested less talking and more action. For me, talking is synomous with learning about the characters and character growth.

So, no offense, but what the fuck are you doing here then? This is the Star Trek Movies XI+ forum, and you're just here to badmouth it? I'm no fan of ENTERPRISE, but I don't go over to that forum and spew negativity toward that show to the members who are fans of it.

God dammit!!!

Been watching this shit since 1975 and buying the various shows on all different forms media. Plus, action figures, models, novels, comics. If I had known that liking the Abramsverse disqualified me from being a fan, I'd have saved all the time, effort and money I've spent on this shitty franchise for the last (near) 40 years!
